People at my school absolutely suck at the AP Euro exam. Prior to my class, no one ever got a 5 on the test. However, my class has been touted as the best class the school has ever had academically, so there were like 4 kids with 5's in my Euro class. We took it sophomore year, so it was really amazing that you could ace a college-level test at that age. I could only manage a 3.

Ap euro is the MOST curved exam. ---if u don't mind would u plz explain it a bit (sometimes I act like a stupid by not getting some sentences and nagging for that) Well, my 'real' target is atleast over 3 (even if I make a 3 and 'other's' get less than that, I'll be happy thinking that my score in Ap Euro class is 'justified') U see, I have got a 100 avg in Euro Class (the class is over) and I always feel like I 'should' make atleast 4. I know it's a completely grade inflated school but still I just want to see what I can do w/ my first AP. Others got around 70-92s and all. (so, I'm really ahead other 'social studies' geek--and now, I'm not a social studies student at all, I'm in Math and Science)

"Ap euro is the MOST curved exam. ---if u don't mind would u plz explain it a bit"

Yea no problem.
The way I said it kind of doesn't make sense, but what I meant was, that it is fairly difficult to get a 5/4 on this exam, than on most other exams.

If you look at all the exam grade averages on collegeboard...you see the amount of students who receive the grades 5-1.

A normal bell curve will have something like this:
5 - 10%
4 - 30%
3 - 40%
2 - 30%
1 - 10%

Not so exact, but you get it. The most amount of people should be getting 2-4's.

Let's look at the calc BC exam distribution (last year)
5: 41.9
4: 19.7
3: 19.7
2: 6.4
1: 12.3

That is not a proper bell curve, making a student's chances of gettin a 4/5 fairly easy.

AP euro's grade dstribution
5: 12
4: 20.3
3: 36.9
2: 17.4
1: 13.6

This is pretty much a perfect bell curve, making the exam's grading structure rather perfect, yet fairly difficult to break out of the "point" of the curve. Im sure you've got a great shot of getting a 4/5, but you've got to really prepare for it.

christalena2, u know what, that was one of the most informative post for me for all the time I've been here in CC! :) Thanks a lot. Yeah, I completely get it right now! Now, I get the whole thing about AP Euro. It will definitely make me study. Well, I never study unless I'm forced to! :D (another lazy one out here) So, kinda like 3 is what most tend to get.....even if I get that I'll be happy but I will definitely shot for something better and ur statistics have simply opened my eye. It made me realize that it ain't be that easy, work and work! I will definitely try my best to prepare for it. Thanks a lot. :)

^ Your welcome! That was probably the nicest compliment of gotten on here! haha.

Since you seem to be working very hard in this class, I bet you'll do fine.
I got a B first semester, A second semester in AP Euro, only studied for about 5-6 hours a couple days before, and got a 3. So, if you definitely put your mind to it, you could definitely get that 4/5.

Take lots of practice tests! Since history never changes (ha), the questions seem to follow the same pattern, asking about the same time periods, people, etc.
I don't think Im allowed to go into detail, but that was probably my best preparation.

Since history never changes --like that statement! Alrite, I'll defnitely consult u as Ap season comes closer, u know what I always CRAM (I hope I won't do it w/ AP Euro too, but that's just a hope :( no, I won't, I mean I will try not to, shooh.......I myself am getting confused!) Anyway, Hepstar might get angry at seeing off topic discussion in this thread!

"Anyway, Hepstar might get angry at seeing off topic discussion in this thread!"

Honestly, I don't care.

This thread has fallen all the way to page 6, so I'm going to bring it back.

I also want to add another "average" college acceptance to the growing list. Well, it isn't actually an acceptance, but I was offered a $20,000 per year scholarship to NYU Steinhardt as a Lewis Rudin City Scholar. If there are any more acceptances, just post them.

congrats hepstar! just goes to show, just because we're average doesn't mean we don't get the money too. lol.

i got accepted in early february to california college of the arts. i'll probably end up there. just waiting on the amount of scholarship money they might throw my way.

"just goes to show, just because we're average doesn't mean we don't get the money too."

How true. Congrats on your acceptance as well. It's good to know that you have pretty much decided whre you want to go. I thought I was going to St. John's University for sure. That was until I got this offer from NYu, which is WAY more than I expected.

^wow, thats really amazing on the scholarship bit. Good luck on your decision! I am personally waiting for St. Johns University myself... I'm worried about it.

This thread makes me happy though. I am pretty average statistically, just because I don't take tests to the best of my ability. I try my best in school to make up for my bad freshman-sophmore grades. I'm doing great so far!

ACT: 28. I took the test 4 times, the last 3 times I did not budge from my 28 score.
SAT: 1710 took this once. I hate the sat...
GPA: 3.6 I have not taken any AP or Honors courses. My school has a weird system, so a lot of people in my school don't take them. I go to a (totally insane) private school.

I've applied to many pharmacy/health science restricted schools and have been accepted with scholarships to most of them. But still waiting on St. Johns...

Hep, did you put this club as one of your activities on your application? If so, it may have gotten you all that sweet cash.

"Hep, did you put this club as one of your activities on your application? If so, it may have gotten you all that sweet cash."

No I didn't. I'm not sure what colleges would think of a club that celebrates mediocrity. I think the reason I got the scholarship was because of my volunteer work and essay. I put a lot of effort into both. I guess the balanced out my "low" SAT score. So far, I know of 3 other students from my school w/the smae scholarship:

One had a similar SAT but higher GPA than me. He applied to CAS.

The other 2 both have 2200+ SAT scores and sky-high GPAs. They applied to Stern.

HEY AVERAGE PPL!!! just wanted to say hi...

sat: 1240/2400 took it first time
gpa:3.3
I guess im way below average. My school is however very good, not sure if it helps.
Colleges applied:
Fordham
NYU
Pace
Pratt
Can i still join?

1.) You must have an SAT score of less than 2100 and/or an ACT score of less than 31.

2.) You have to have at least one class in which you have a B or lower. For me it is BC Calculus. No straight A students are allowed.

3.) You cannot have a 5 on any AP test.

4.) You cannot be nationally ranked in anything, whether it be sports or academics.

5.) You must have failed a test (not a quiz) at some point in your high school career.

1) SAT: 1930
2) Spanish: B-
3) Never took an AP class.
4) Not ranked
5) Failed a few tests
GPA is around 3.4/3.5

Good to be around people liek me instead of kids who are going to Ivies.

We could have more members than we do now. I know we have more members than the 2200-2290 club. I'm not sure about the 2300 club though.

it seems like most people are on the list. Maybe you should raise the standards.
