The Bad Side of Brown

in RI, they call milkshakes "cabinets"

Oh yeah, pizza. You're from new york so I guess you're the experts on pizza. I for one think the trees aren't green enough here.

Im not applying to brown, but when my sister visited it i went with her and there are too many hippies and too many, um, feminine men if you know what i mean

If you think lots of gay guys is a bad thing, then Brown is not the place for you.

Meh, I just don't prefer Antonio's. It's really not a big deal.

lol @ creatine

wow we did a good job w/ this list.. lol. i guess we will all be truly heartbroken if ED doesnt work out :(

I heard Brown food at Ratty's isn't so good when I overnighted there, (then again I stayed with a Korean girl who is used to AP quality Korean food from home). And at least one of the intro classes (Intro to Econ) has a really boring, crappy professor and only about a quarter of the students enrolled in the class go to class, since they go straight out of the book.

The Ratty is good for college food, but it'll never measure up to home-cooked.

The intro Econ class (11) is supposedly a lot better in the spring semester than in the fall. I've heard bad things about the prof who teaches in the fall, but I'm taking it this coming semester and at least one of the profs who co-teaches it has a great reputation.

Serrano, right? Heard he's great for econ11.

Ratty food isn't bad. It's just repetitive. I would kill for food that hasn't been sitting under a heat lamp for a while, but that's just me being bitter about not going home for thanksgiving.

Why I chose not to attend Brown.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=121587

Just fyi, I'm not trying to attack Brown at all. I loved it, the atmosphere was very NorCal-esque which is pretty much the best atmosphere ever. Plus snow and an amazing education = ideal school, regardless if the food is literally poop. -- if Dartmouth defers me from ED, its my handsdown first choice. Maybe should have been in the first place.

brown is liberal but it doesn't mean that all guys are gay or girls active feminists. these are just clich

Speaking as a student at Brown let me just say while the campus has some extremely liberal folks, there is a range of beliefs and attitudes. I question the value of generalizing across one experience for six thousand students. If in your much smaller High School classes you could find people that you like and would want to hang out with, you certainly will be able to do so here. I can't say enough good things about Brown and it is espicially pretty now that the campus is snow-covered.

If you have any questions about the place more specifically, Fire away.

Best,
Fred
