Decision time is coming up. To be honest, I’m not completely sure what I want out of a college. I’ve visited my options, and I liked all of them a lot. I’m having a hard time making a decision, so I’d like to hear what other people might choose in my situation.
My options are Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern University ( hence the title) as well as Vassar College and the College of the Holy Cross. Any input at all would be appreciated.
Well, BU just won the beanpot (and many more over the years!)
What’s the financial difference between the 5? And what’s your intended field of study?
Financially, they are all quite similar. I got about the same amount of financial aid from each one. I am admitted as a Political Science major, although I regret not applying undecided because I am not sure about that decision. I will definitely try poli sci out for a while and see if it’s right. If not, I could change to history, english, or film study. But as of right now, I’m going for political science.
Vassar only has a few distribution requirements so if you might want to double major, it is easier to do it at Vassar.
BU and Northeastern are both large city universities. Boston College and Holy Cross are similar - but I think Holy Cross also has many people who double major - not sure about BC. Northeastern is more rigid with their requirements because of the internship opportunities - you need to stay ‘on track’. You may wish to review the actual courses you would take for your major and see if that approach helps you to narrow down your options.
[This thread](UCLA or Vassar - College Search & Selection - College Confidential Forums) has some great info and insights about Vassar. (Just skip past the UCLA stuff.)
Do you want large or small? City or country? Social life off-campus or on-campus? There are some pretty significant differences in quality of life at the colleges you’ve listed, so you need to figure out where you’d feel most at home.
