I've gotten a total of seventeen PM's asking about what the mysterious Binghampton acceptance tip is, so to save my fingers the time, I will tell you here.

Now mind you, an admission's counselor at both Binghampton and Plattsburgh told me about this (I used to have her as a professor at Plattsburgh before she began working as at Binghampton admissions) , so if you have any concerns, I can't tell you any more than what she told me.

So, on to the tip.

She adviced me that you should apply to as many SUNY schools as possible, the schools you get accepted to, you should list on the Binghampton application form - she says this will increase your chances of being admitted because, obviously all SUNY schools are of one university, if you apply and are accpeted to the majority of schools - then Binghampton will be more likely to accept you (now, if you have a poor gpa, poor test scores, poor recommendations, and poor everything else, this may not help you as much - but she says they will take a closer look at you - and may give you access to the STAR program.)

She also says, that if you really are interested in increasing your chances to attend a SUNY school for a semester, do well of course - and then when you apply to SUNY Binghampton, because you're already accepted into the SUNY system, it will be seen as simply changing internal schools, not applying to an entire new college - internal transfers undergo a different application process which isn't as vigorous.

The end.

For skeptics, sorry, but I can't help you. This is what I was told by her. Beware, that doing this will not guarentee you a spot, it may improve your chances.

I hope I helped
