Hi all! :) I know this is the employment area, but I just wanted to tell you that for every job they turn you away from, there are ten places that would be grateful for your presence! I personally volunteer at three places - a nursing home, a child support center, and the local theatre as an usher. I have met many interesting people and undergone many experiences - through my nursing home experience, I have decided to pursue Therapeutic Recreation in the hopes that I might one day actually get paid for a job I love doing!

Moreover, volunteering is experience you can add on your resume and the people you respond to the potential references that future employers will call. Sure, some places might not suit your interests - I tried volunteering politically but handing out flyers was more travel than I cared for - but, then, there are jobs that also don't, and at the very least, in volunteering you can politely walk away.

Hee, hope I haven't babbled too long. I'm just so excited about the future. Peace, love, and prosperity, amigos!
