The Berkeley Thread!

god variable, don't say that.

geez.............
my UCLA decision hasnt over yet.................

UCLA is still in review..
Cal still have 7days....................

i guess i m one of the unlucky person>_<

this is going to sound dumb..... but everytime i'm in the college parking lot walking to my car (like today) and i see a bumper sticker that says 'cal' or uc berkeley', i think to myself "well, SOMEBODY did it..... what about me?"

..

dbguy...which one, there was a housing theory last year that was true and one this year that is not likely...

variable...yes that happens all the time. I know of people personally that it happened too. I posted a video clip a few days ago about a woman who slept in her car w/ her son & went to ccc and transferred to Berkeley, she had a high GPA but UCLA rejected her.

Oh luvtoolearn, not you too! I was looking forward to being your neighbor in the Village.

Haha, I see those so damn much, it's ridiculous. They serve as a reminder of the impending decision for me.

Ektaylor - I'm assuming you got into UCLA right?

If so, are you preferring Cal over LA?

If so, then that's the way to do.

you will be...I've seen it both ways...people who were accepted to both and people who were accepted to only one. There was a person last year that was accepted to both, decided to go to UCLA and then regretted turning down Berkeley... I don't know whatever happened to him though cuz I haven't heard from him in a long time on CC.

Sigh. Why can't we trade with people with similar stats? That would be great.

I cant believe a guy with 3.5 GPA got admitted vs my 3.9 GPA. Both same major... pre-reqs really were killer for UCLA ... but I still hold onto the theory that UCLA practices tufts syndrome like crazy.

What's the tufts syndrome?

kal7 - http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/498869-anyone-feel-they-got-tufted-ucla.html

Ah, I see. I think it's ridiculous that you didn't get in. Was it the prereqs? If not, you should appeal. Did you look through your application receipt to make sure there are no errors? I know some people this happened to.

Even if I didn't complete all of my pre-reqs...I think that a 3.91 GPA is FAR greater than 3.54. It's not like I can't take those lower division classes at UCLA. I'll look into appeals after UCB releases decisions.

Which is your first choice?

Cal, by miles.

i got in to UCLA also but Cal is my first choice

At least you have a good backup Torrance :)

yah i feel good on that one lol! less pressure

Not to be rude, but the upper-tier UCs do not agree; it has always been their policy to auto-reject those who do not have prereqs completed. The reasoning is in their concern to keep under-division classes open for underclassmen.

Unless you have completed those prereqs as of now, or can somehow convince them that you will complete them in summer, I doubt you will have any success in an appeal.
