crap i m scared
seeing how people get all emo about UCLA, no offense but i wonder how we cal applicants will react in 6 days
=.= i wonder if the rawr would be louder, and the echo more resounding.
wonder how many threads would be up
how many would complain about incompletion pre reqs
how many theories would come up in the next 6 days
how this page would be down due to overload
how tons of stats will hit the boards

I am starting to get paranoid. I have pretty good stats but my major that I applied to does not have any prerequisites that are offered at community colleges. Even though UCB is not suppose to hold that against you I am still worried that they will. The reason I am so paranoid now is because there are a lot of qualified applicants that applied to UCLA that seemed to be rejected because of their prerequisites.

honestly? i'm not worried. berkeley is my reach school-if i get in, i will be LMAOing for three days straight, and if i don't get in, no hard feelings.

and before you ask:
3.45 french major with some pretty boss ECs and my essays were really good in that it showed a lot about my life and how i roll, and i'm not TAP certified but my prereqs and IGETC are completed. already admitted to UCLA and UCSB, awaiting USC and UCB.

hi all, i am a senior in h.s. hoping to transfer to Berkley. The problem is that I am a resident and studying in NY. Does Berkley accept transfers from out of state? if so how much?

I wouldn't worry as much about pre-reqs at Berkeley. My feel is that they've got a much more holistic admissions process. Obviously some majors will stress pre-reqs more than others, but Dude, you're philosophy? I really don't think you're going to have a pre-req problem.

Actually my major I applied for was Classical Civilizations which only has two prerequisites for the major but none are offered at CCCs like I said. I hope your right because I have been stressing about this for awhile. I have contacted several Berkeley reps and I have talked to my TAP coordinator from Berkeley I she said it would not be a problem. But since Berkeley admits students based on the department and not the major I feel weird competing against students who have their prerequisites.

I am also stressing about Berkeley because I'll be missing one pre-req that is not offered at any of CCCs in the area. Plus, I didn't quite understand the application process/admissions thinking, so I edited my supplemental app to take out the reason why I couldn't take the pre-req (it sounded whiny to me). Arghh, if I'm rejected for that reason, I just don't know...especially since the undergrad advisor at Berkeley said it shouldn't matter at all - seems a lot of transfer students are missing the same pre-req.

thatgirltoo...
no worries. I am a sociology major (3 prereqs), last year I had one completed, one in progress (spring) and one that was missing (ccc didn't offer it) and still got into Berkeley. I did hear that this year they are a little more strict about difficult prereqs being taken in the spring before transfer but it still is allot different than the review process at UCLA.

I get a little worried by my odd situation. I've been accepted by UCSD, which is great because it's my second choice in the UC system next to Berkeley and my third choice overall. On the other hand, I was just rejected by Davis and Santa Cruz contacted me to say I was basically rejected but they could probably waive me in.

Essentially I've got a ton of credits, including some from four year institutions, but even a cursory glance shows that a lot of those will be nontransferable...vocational/technical credit and the like. I've looked at every campus's criteria, and I can confidently say that I should not be considered a senior level transfer.

The other weird thing is my decision to study in Alaska this year. I've made sure that I meet the definition of a CCC transfer student by continuing to take classes online, but one of the criteria is ambiguous; I technically satisfy it, but a liberal reading could say I don't.

Anywho, I have a strong application and I feel that UCSD was not just a blip on the radar. I felt in November that I had about an equal chance at UCSD and UCB; Berkeley is more selective and their assessment is more holistic: it balances out for my application.

As I said, I'd be completely happy to go to UCSD; they have a great math program. If I'm rejected by both Stanford and Berkeley, however, and I find that Berkeley rejected me on account of considering me as either a senior transfer or non-CCC transfer I think I'll have strong grounds for an appeal.

When a Berkeley admissions rep came to my school's transfer office for a presentation I asked her, in person, about missing pre-reqs not offered at my school.

For example, I am a history major. My school offers something like 6 pre-reqs versus Glendale which offers 13! I asked her if i'd be at a disadvantage going up against a Glendale transfer with all 13 completed. She said no. She explained that they pull up assist and see which pre-reqs your school offers, and how many of them you have completed, and go from there. So it appears if I knock out all 6 of the pre-reqs that my school offers, versus someone from Glendale who knocked out 6 out of 13, I'd be in a better place than them.
