I think the best and worst states in the US are...

Worst:
1. Texas
2. Connecticut

Best: Wyoming

/just because those states wouldn't get any mention otherwise

Best
1. Michigan
Canada

Worst
Texas
Mexico

Best: Michigan.

I need not say any more.

Best & worst for WHAT?

I think HI could be both best & worst, depending on what we're ranking. HI is one of the friendliest places I've ever been, bar none. It's also one of the most expensive, especially the housing & food prices. It's public ed system needs significant improvement but it's private ed system is incredible. Can you tell, it's a place of contrasts? In terms of natural beauty, few places can compete with HI.

Maine's pretty good, except nothing happens up here. If you want peace and quiet in a beautiful setting, there's nowhere better.

Best:
1) California
2) Maryland
3) New York

Worst:
1) North Dakota
2) Montana
3) Hawaii

Dude .. you guys DO NOT know your states?

Canada? Mexico? NYC? wth...

Best:

New York

California

Massachusetts

Connecticut

Worst:

Montana

North Dakota

South Dakota

Wyoming

New Mexico

^^Lol, so basically you're saying that the more populated states are the best and the less populated states are the worst?

Best:

Oregon
Maine
Washington
Mass.

Worst:

Michigan

Best:
Maryland
Washington
Maine
New York
Georgia
Alabama

Worst:
Mississippi
Kentucky
Tennessee
Idaho
Utah

My great home state of Tennessee is a nice place, man. Nashville was voted one of the most smartest cities recently; because of housing, employoment, taxes, and quality education.

I love how all of you name the low pop. states as the worst. How many of you besides me have actually been to the Dakotas, Montana, Wyoming?

Oh, and what's with the hate for Texas?

Mine:

Best:

Mass.

Pennsylvania

Alaska

Colorado

Maine

Arizona

Washington

Florida

Texas

N.Virginia
Worst:

New York (dont get me started)

New Jersey (See above)

Ohio (Havent been, but everyone I know who lives there says it's rediculously boring)

Connecticut (Ok, but pretty boring state overall)

Very true, MerlinJones, very true.
To everyone- btw, unless you've been to that state and have lived there for a period of over a month or so, I wouldn't rank them as best or worst. Besides, this thread's posters are biased. (like me! :p )
.-_-.

I ranked Tennessee low because I hate the Vols. lol

Best:
Montana
California
New York
Mass.

Worst
Michigan
Iowa
New Mexico

Best is Minnesota, hands down. It may be cold but the people are warm :D

If you've been there, you'll understand why Minnesota rocks. And yes I've only been there once and I live as far away from there as you can imagine, so I'm pretty impartial :D

How the hell do people think Michigan is the best state? Dying economy, high unemployment, and Detroit/Flint - those are three huge negatives.
