The Best and Worst States in the US

California is the best. All the people that put California as one of the worst states just do that because they know California is the best.

Best:
1. New York
2. Connecticut
3. The eastern seaboard (with the exception of GA, the Carolinas, and FL)
4. Blue states with the exception of California
5. Virginia

Worst:
1. California
2. Texas
3. Red states with the exception of Virginia

Best:
Pennsylvania
Massachusetts
Alaska
Hawaii

Worst:
none, I just can't say I've been to a state that I disliked that much

By the way Drew, "The great lakes kind of suck"
I know the lakes are dirty and polluted (Erie's the worst!) but try sailing on them in a traditional tallship and you'll be converted, really! :D

This is a very stupid topic.

besstttt : NEW YORKKKK!!!!!
worst: ha,idk?

I love the Great Lakes.

And all lakes are dirty...so if you don't like dirty lakes, you don't like any lakes.

Swimming pools really aren't that much better unless they're kept up extremely well.

Best:
Colorado
Virginia
Tennessee
Massachusetts
Washington
Oregon

Worst:
Mississippi
New Mexico (though I LOVE some parts of it, I've just had bad experiences in others)
Florida (too hot, too humid, not enough of the wind we have here in Texas)
Oklahoma
Kansas

and for those of you Texas haters...we have something for everyone here. We have seaside resorts (South Padre, Galveston, Port Aransas), HUGE cities (Dallas, Houston), Funky left-wing areas (Austin), areas where people are still friendly enough to treat a stranger as their best friend (West Texas), cultural diffusion (Rio Grande Valley, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Houston), right-wings, left-wings, people who don't know what "wing" they are, etc. etc. etc.

We aren't all Bush-loving cowboys who talk with a twangy accent.

I only hate Texas because it's so far south (I did say and various other southern states). I need snow, lots of snow.

We have that too...in certain areas, though I will admit it's not as much as you get in The Sticks, Minnesota.

California is best

WORST: CONNECTICUT without a doubt. I have yet to meet anyone from ct who actually likes it.

What are you basing this on? Economic output? Contribution to the rest of the Union? Foreign diplomacy? This is retarted.

And yes, I'm bitter.

We're basing it on number of lakes per square mile.

Evidently, all responses are a matter of personal opinion and are hardly factual.

I've lived in CA for all of my life, and I hardly travel, but a quick weekend getaway to Reno has made me thankful that I live in CA and NOT NV.

Best: California
Worst: Can't decide

Maryland has only been listed like three times, but all on the best side :)

I only say California is one of the worst because every ****en person I meet from there is either like "Norcal sucks balls" or "Socal sucks balls"...seems very divided over this

All of our lakes are artificial!

Best :
New York
Mass.
Conn.
California

Worst :
Texas
Florida ( This state annoys me !)
All Red States - usually most boring or country or bothersome.

whoever says New York is the best, this is true in some aspects. New York is so diverse (especially Queens) that it really depends where you live. Their are nice parts and bad parts, but to make a generalization about the whole state would be pointless.

Best

Ohio
Washington
North Carolina

Worst

New Jersey
Texas (except for Austin area)
Michigan
