The Best Dorm/Hall in Princeton?

is Rocky / Holder Hall.
mwahahaha... mwahahahahaha.... mwahahahahaha....
^---Fact

Fact?? Prove it.

Only a Rockyite would start a thread like this...

I vote Dod. (And all colleges can at least theoretically agree on this, as it's upperclass.)

walker.

hth

i'm with you, hobbes!! holder all the way

1942!!!!!!!! :D , its not among the worst though :)
seriously isn't blair good???

Holla fo Holda!!!!!

I like how the junior slums are some of the prettiest dorms on campus. Haha. I think I'd be happy to live there, honestly...Plus the little path going through them is absolutely gorgeous.

But for underclassment, Dodge-Osborn is clearly where it's at. Just D-O It!

For underclass: Dodge Osborn was pretty sweet before it went sub free.
Gauss, Clapp, Holder, Witherspoon and Forbes main Inn are nice.

better upperclass dorms: Dod, Scully, Bloomberg, Patton-Wright

was??? :p

Hm...might be an issue if your head doesn't fit in your perfect, spacious room.

And you're not even at Princeton yet!

:P

Such, D-O hasn't been sub-free before, so no one really knows whether it'll be "sweet" or not (my guess is since we're in it, we'll have loads of fun :D). No worries, mi amiga ;)

Any hall in Whitman is bound to be the best

brand spankin new and pretty :)

In the meantime, I'm pretty happy with 1915 (which happens to be my house address...)
I'm still hoping that Whitman will be finished by next year though...

sub free has managed to make every dorm it has been associated with suck. D-O was primarily cool b/c all the parties were there. now you can't have parties there.

and don't get too excited about whitman. Whitman will not be open for at least another 2 years. and just b/c its now doesn't make it the best. also, there are other "new" dorms on campus if that is what your criteria is. Witherspoon and Holder come to mind (renovated and basically new in the last 2 years).

I thought Whitman was supposed to be completed in 2006. Did they get delayed again?

No I don't think new = best, but I thought I heard somewhere that Whitman was supposed to be the best dorm in the country or something.

My criteria for a good dorm is spacious with bathrooms on every floor. That's the only thing I dislike about 1915, having to walk down two flights to use the bathroom/shower.

Last I read, Fall 2007. Search the Daily Prince archives.

Sighh my hopes and dreams dashed.

What are the junior slums?

nobody knows when Whitman is going to be ready. if you look at it now, only 1 building frame is up and the entire project is a lot of cement. and Princeton is not even sure when they are going to formally implement the increase in class size. the university has made no efforts aside from buidling housing to accomodate the increase in #s. (more class offerrings, increasing class size, etc. etc.) from a social perspective, the eating club system is more likely than not unable to handle an increase in people at this time. What is intersting is that your freshman class (09) is about 75 people larger than the classes that came before you. it is going to be very interesting how the increasing class size changes the university. and i am curious to see what the 4 year residential college system brings.

my guess is that Whitman will probably resemble the interior of witherspoon and holder. remember that like all the other colleges whitman will consist of multiple dormitory bulidings and i am sure some will be better than others.

the junior slums are the dormitories that are gothic looking and very old and not recently renovated that are the last choices in upper class room draw. as such it is mainly juniors living in that area, and that is why it is called the junior slums. the buildings are the dormitories between university place and Little Hall. The include: Pyne, Henry, Foulke, 1901, Laughlin, and Lockhart.

some highlights of the junior slums include the 90 square foot singles in Pyne.

in addition to the junior slums the other upper class dorms are: Scully&Bloomberg, Cuyler, 1903, Patton-Wright, Dod, Brown, Little and Spelman.

Cuyler 1903 Patton Wright Dod and Brown are central campus. Little is in between the slums and central campus. spelman is next to the train station and scully and bloomberg are down by Poe field

The Junior Slums include pretty much any gothic upperclass dorm, though most properly refer to the ones that stretch down from Blair Arch to Dillon Gym and the Dinky. Their major problem is that they're old, but from my impression they're really not that bad. About like Joline in Mathey, or Holder before the renovation. (A renovated dorm, by definition, cannot be a Junior Slum.) In other words, it's not like there are a tremendous number of Senior Palaces (Dod?) to compare them to...
