The best hbcu is

I have no idea… sorry. I was hoping someone could tell me. Initially, I’d thought it was Howard but after hearing some student’s opinions…idk anymore. I was against morehouse simply because it’s an all-male school but it’s starting to look pretty good. Anyways which is the best undergrad HBCU? Please reply so I can apply!!!

Spelman, according to USNWR. Next, Howard :]
But really, go to Howard. Don’t just judge it on some people’s opinions, do some of your own research

None…

here is a thought

why don’t you tell us what “hbcu” means

thanks

Group 1:

Howard
Spelman
Morehouse
Hampton

Group 2:

Fisk
Tuskegee
Dillard
Tougaloo

By the way, if people have to ask what an HBCU is then they are probably not qualified to answer the question…

based on that list, I’m going to deduce that it means historically black colleges and universities?

Group 1 - Morehouse and Spelman
Group 2 - Howard
Group 3 - everywhere else

Interesting, it appears that Howard has, far and away, the highest SAT scores…

also, the tuition for the private HBCU’s tends to be almost about 1/2 that of the other higher ranked colleges - in the $16,000-$22,000 range compared to about $36,000-$40,000

Keep in mind that going to the berst HBCU doesn’t really mean much. They aren’t traditionally as strong as their more diverse counterparts.

Hampton & North Carolina A&T

If you do well at an HBCU, recruiters will trip over themselves to snag you.

^^ agreed.

In regards to the “Big 3” Spellman, Morehouse & Howard- you’ll find out that post collegiate networking (internships/ job opportunities) w/Fortune 500 Companies - is exceptional ! Great Alumni networking recruiting assist. FYI: Howard University is considered one of the BEST BUSINESS SCHOOLS in the Nation. Explore, read and discover that even today, 10% of all college students are African American (nationally/all colleges and universities) yet more than 80% of all African American Phd’s are earned at HBCUs.

Good luck to all !

^ I wouldn’t go that far. lol.

I am not a member of the AA community but here is my opinion on HBCUs.

HBCUs are viewed as a separate category from the rest of the the national universities, much like LAC’s are. Companies recruit at top HBCUs as they would at top National Universities.

I have a friend who went to Spelman and was recruited by Deloitte, and she’s doing really well there. Another friend working at McKinsey who graduated from Morehouse. These are top firms who only recruit at their targeted schools.

While they might not compare directly to top national schools, they are still very prestigious within their own category.

Spelman:Williams:Harvard

The top students from HBCUs have proved time and again that they can compete anywhere.

As for rankings, I don’t believe that most are valid for an inquiring prospective student because HBCUs typically are a whole 'nother animal and the reasons students matriculate at them go beyond academics. Every one wants to attend a sound college or university but HBCU students also matriculate with a specific and typically profound motivation. That being said, I think the best ‘ranking’ for a HBCU is its track record in career placement. On that score, nobody beats Xavier in medical school admissions. Morehouse and Spelman do well for in securing seats for their graduates in top MBA and law programs. Life Sciences alumni from Prairie View A&M get seats at top graduate schools also. The HBCUS are a very diverse group of colleges with distinct strengths and assets.
