So I'm strongly considering living in a co-op. What do you CURRENT BEARS think? I want a clean place with not-so-much of a crazy, noisy, party scene. Any suggestions?

I'm a MOM of a CURRENT BEAR, who lives in one of the co-ops. I'd suggest to stay away from the larger ones Cloyne and Casa Zimbabwe to avoid crazy, noisy, party scene. S and I took a tour when he was first considering co-ops, and I would say none of them are exactly clean in the common areas. Although I will say the kitchen and bathrooms are fine where S lives. If none of the themed co-ops suit you, then I would aim for the smaller ones on Northside. There is a good social scene, but I believe it is less hectic than Southside.

Andres Castro Arms and Davis House really LOOK like they will fit my personal preference(s). I am, of course, only going off of what I see on the USCA.org website...

I've visited five of the Northside co-ops, and from what I've seen, I would definitely go for the Euclid co-op. It's clean, near some good restaurants on Euclid street, and I think it's relatively quiet there.

^ my friend lives in euclid and it's quiet. too quiet. so quiet that you can't believe it...

lol. Euclid has always been the quietest quietest place around campus.

Davis is a nice house, it's designed by Julia Morgan. Don't know about the current scene there, but the descriptions for all the houses above applied quite the same 10 years ago, when Davis was a very good place.

Any other thoughts? I am thinking about choosing Ridge House as my #1 pick.

I think Ridge is pretty nice.....Have you sent in your app? If you haven't already, I suggest you send it in with an initial list as you can change your preferences after sending in the form. What are your 2nd and 3rd choices?

One good strategy is to pick a difficult one to get into as your 1st choice, and then list others that are easier for subsequent choices.

Ridge House, Andres Castro Arms, and Davis House.

how are the houses on the south of campus??
is wolf house n e good?

You have to clarify the definition of "good." Be specific when asking these types of questions to receive more informative and helpful responses.

ok fine. tell me about experiences @ wolf house and houses on the south of campus. do you like them/not like them. etc...

i sent in an application, about a month ago, and listed euclid ridge and kidd in the top ones i wanted. they gave me african american theme house. i sent them the pink slip saying that i want to stay on the waiting list for all the others i picked first, but i guess its really hard for a frosh to get a house that he prefers. ne experiences with the afro house?

what exactly is a co-op?

Another question: Are you given any financial aid if you live in co-ops? My current report shows "off-campus housing."

bump bump...

bumpeeeeee

castro is very difficult to get into. i'm not sure about financial aid at all. i myself will be going veggie. yay loth!

I'm hoping I can get into Loth this summer!! I need fooood.
