The BEST of Tallahassee

Since there is a genuine possibility, “slim I may add”, that I may be denied admissions into my goal school of UF and may wind-up @ FSU, I would
appreciate any advise regarding the finer points in Tallahassee. Granted, FSU is situated in a small town, but can you guys please provide information to the following;
1. What are the best dorms on campus ?
2. What are the nicest restaurants near FSU?
3. What are the nicest hotels near FSU ?
4. What are the nicest shops near FSU ?
5. What are the nicest places to hang-out near FSU, excluding the parking lot @ Walmart ?
6. Where can I find hispanics near FSU ?
Thanks

UF deserves you!

tongue-in-cheek (tngn-chk)
adj.
Meant or expressed ironically or facetiously.

There aren’t any. They’re all in Gainesville.

^^^love it!!^^^

I thought you were reaching for UCF?

Here’s hoping you go to UF!

From the lack of intelligent responses, I gather that there are no nice dorms, nor nice restaurants, nor nice shops near FSU. WOW, I really hope to G-D that I get accepted to UF cause I really can’t deal with the “Walmart” mentality that’s so prevalent at FSU !

I hope to a higher power you get accepted too. To increase your odds, link to your profile here; your elitism would make you a shoe-in.

You seriously are going to come in here and talk down about FSU, and then question why people aren’t willing to give you any info on the area?

You know what, just for laughs I hope you get rejected by UF, and end up at FSU and spend 4 years here hating it.

The city of Gainesville is just a Mecca for culture, fine dining and couture!! LMAO

Anyways, rather than stoop down to your level, allow me to gladly answer your questions:

What are the best dorms on campus ? Easily Dorman and Diviney Halls. Make sure you sign up for housing as soon as you are undoubtedly admitted and get a good priority number. Pick these two as your #1 and #2, and don’t even bother selecting any alternates. The others just don’t compare in any way.

What are the nicest restaurants near FSU?

There’s a deli on Tennessee and Monroe Street. It’s pretty convenient and not badly priced.

What are the nicest hotels near FSU ?

The Prince Murat on Monroe St. Hands down, it’s unlike any place you’ve ever stayed before. Free HBO; how can you beat it?

What are the nicest shops near FSU ?

If you go far enough on Apalachee, you will find a Target. Now, I know what you’re thinking… target? It’s not just a Target; it’s a SUPER Target.

What are the nicest places to hang-out near FSU, excluding the parking lot @ Walmart ?

A lot of us like to hang out on the campus of FAMU. It’s very common for FSU students to walk around campus in FSU shirts or sometimes even BCC shirts. I would definitely try this the first week you get up here.

Where can I find hispanics near FSU ?

I’d imagine there are hispanics that attend FSU, so you probably could find some without even leaving campus.

Hope this helps. Good luck with your application process.

Havana, Fl. is only about 15 miles north of campus up U.S. #27. Havana is just south of the border…the Georgia border!

The Walmarts in Gainesville are nicer. They have free pickled pig’s feet.

Actually, I think the perfect way to preserve the BEST of FSU and Tallahassee is for you to go to UF.

Matt125-
I sincerely appreciate your assistance, “I think”, but when I was inquiring
about the best of Tallahassee, I was referring to the following;
Shopping–, Is there a Saks, Macy’s or Neiman close by ?
Hotels-- How about hotels similar to Mandarin Oriental or Waldorf ?
Restaurants-- How about a restaurant similar to Emril’s or The Forge ?
Dorms-- Any suites available at FSU or any nice homes near by that I can rent ?
Thanks again

FSU took some 5 UF rejects last year and decided that was 4 too many.

Maybe try UCF?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

As a senior member of this site with over 4000 post over the last several years
and based on your screen name also a parent with kids at FSU, I have but
one question to ask you ?
Do you feel comfortable making fun of a minor who is only attempting to
solicit an honest view of FSU ?
I personally have never attended a public school before and I am uncertain
why some members here have given me a hard time only because my family is financially secure and they are looking out for my best interest ? Also, If you are incapable or unwilling to respond to my inquires in an adult manner, then please don’t bother.
Thanks

Why not just go to Univ of Miami?

Yes. Your posts display a pretentious attitude that needs immediate correction. Even after some joking and prodding you seem to not get the point. Many, many students come here requesting information and few display such arrogance. It takes time and effort to come here and post good information for students that was gained through years of experience.

Secondly, this is a public, anonymous bulletin board where you get frank information, some good, some bad, all worthy of verification. No one cares about your family’s resources or even knows it exists in detail unless you mention it, which is basically unwise. Don’t post your name or location.

Protect your privacy and keep most all personal information to yourself.

If you have only attended a private school then please stay there. I believe most private schools have Macy’s right on campus.
