Andover is definitely in front of Exeter; I debated with teams from both, Andover on the whole comes off as a much more polished and charming bunch. And Groton is definitely one of the top three. It is perhaps the most venerable of all American prep schools, and steeped in the great British Public School tradition like almost no other.

I'd put Lawrenceville in the top ten instead of Mercersburg.

Let me try and make a list:
(in no order)
Elite Eight:
Andover
Exeter
St. Pauls
Deerfield
Hotchkiss
Choate
Lawrenceville
Groton

Tier 1:
Milton
Middlesex
St. Andrews
Peddie
Taft
St. Georges

In Between 1 and 2:
Brooks
St. Marks
St. George's
Episcopal

Tier 2: (Safety for Elite Tier and for some of Tier 1)
Thatcher
The Hill School
Loomis Chaffee
Westminster
Cate
Blair
Pomfret
Kent
Northfield Mount Herman
The Webb School

Tier 3: (Safety for Elite Tier, Tier 1, and most of Tier 2)
Williston Northampton
Millbrook
Mercersburg
Hun School of Princeton
Stevenson
Suffield
Canterbury

Tier 4: (Safety for all tiers except a little bit of Tier 3)
Salisbury
Avon Old Farms
Gunnery
Trinity Pawling
Kimball Union

Don't take any of these rankings for real. Just my opinion. Go ahead and tear it apart.

I agree with most of your list, but I think Milton belongs in the "Elite Eight" instead of Choate, which, in my opinion, should replace Milton in "Tier 1." I also think Pomfret and Mercersburg should be switched. But overall, your list is pretty accurate in my opinion.

I agree with this, except Peddie and St. Georges belong in T2 Also I know nothing about ST. Andrews so there is no way its that good...you talking about the one in FL? If so its not good at all. Also Loomis, Westminster and Cate could replace some of those schools in between tier 1 and 2.

I think Peddie and St. Georges should stay in Tier 1 because they are very good, hard to get in, and have good reputations.

Bescraze: St. Andrews is a great school in Delaware with very good academics. While they were some of my favorite schools when I applied (or tried to) in the fall (Loomis being my #1 choice), Loomis, Westminster, and Cate do not belong in Tier 1.

Sportgirl17: Milton has had some "problems" lately, but I've decided to change its position. I've also decided to move Mercersburg to Tier 2, but keep Pomfret there too. Pomfret has great academics.

Here is my new list, with revisions:
(in no order)
Elite Eight:
Andover
Exeter
St. Pauls
Deerfield
Hotchkiss
Choate
Lawrenceville
Groton

In between Elite Tier and Tier 1:
Milton

Tier 1:
Middlesex
Peddie
Taft
St. Georges
Concord Academy

In Between 1 and 2:
Brooks
St. Marks
Episcopal
St. Andrews

Tier 2: (Safety for Elite Tier and for some of Tier 1)
Thatcher
Fountain Valley School
The Hill School
Governor Drummer Academy

Miss Porter's School

Tier 3: (Safety for Elite Tier, Tier 1, and most of Tier 2)

Thats one of the best rankings I have seen. I'm not sure about Concord in tier 1. Peddie and St. George's are excellent (and improving) and deserve to stay in tier 1.

I would consider Concord either a tier 2 or tier 3. I would consider Thacher a tier 1.

I guess I don't understand "the rankings". If one is interested in marine biology only Stevenson and maybe a couple more have oceanography. If you are interested in Dance, a good number of the "elite" schools do not have good dance programs. If you are interested in swimming.....

Even by "matriculations", when I last looked, Cate had more IVY+ than the elites.

Dazzlezzz

Most of the schools that I have seen results from (both college and prep) say that the % of white females admitted was the lowest (of those who apply).

I believe Groton should move to tier 1 and Middlesex moved into Elite Eight.

No, Middlesex isn't quite their yet, in my opinion.

Please... St Georges and Peddie are not as good as Taft. They are more in line with Loomis and to a less extent Westminster. Also in California Cate has a very good reputation. If you want to keep to only make a minor change than put Milton and Taft as in between.

MDog-
Pomfret is a good school, but it is not in the same caliber as Westminster, Loomis, Cate, etc. The only change I would make to your new list is moving Pomfret to "In Between Tier 2 and 3." Otherwise, it is a perfect list.

I think it is a perfect list and nothing really needs to be drastically changed. I think Peddie and St. George's are not worse than Taft at all.

Wow I feel pretty impressed with myself after making the list of those schools. Now if only they would accept me...

Thacher's results:

Acceptance rate < 20%, Yield > 80% (maybe the highest in the U.S.)

Among other schools, 63 grads this year will attend:
Stanford 3
Dartmouth 4
Columbia 1
Princeton 1
Penn 1
Cambridge 1
Smith 1
Amherst 1
Wesleyan 3
Middlebury 2
Georgetown 1
Emory 2
Tufts 2
Claremont McKenna 1
Bates 1
Bowdoin 1
USC 3
NYU 1
Barnard 1
Univ. of Chicago 1
1 or more to:
CU, Reed, Scripps, Davidson, GW, Babson, UCLA

These results speak for themselves and you can decide how you would rank Thacher with the East Coast schools.

Exactly Thacher and Cate are just as good if not better than some schools but the list is very good.
