the best school for copywriting/advertising (the creative side of advertising)

i am interested, obsessed even, with advertising and copywriting. it's something i would like to pursue career-wise after schooling. i am basically looking for a school that will help me and allow me to build a portfolio or to work with likeminded folks who have authentic interest in advertising.

however, i have been a pretty bad university student the last year and a half i have been here ( state school ). my current school doesn't offer an adbased communication curriculum that appeals to me. the business department does however offer a marketing program. unfortunately, that program is completely business oriented.

are there any schools that will take me under their wing even though my university grades are horrible? (highschool stats if any of this even matters: 1200 sat, 3.6gpa moderately rigorous courses )

can you tell us
1. what school you are at
2. your college GPA
3. what you are looking for in a school - besides advertising.

a state school

2.0

besides advertising? the bigger the city the better, but that's really not a requirement just a preference
hmm

Sadly, your college GPA is the most important factor and yours is very low. You will encounter some difficulties trying to transfer :-/ I dont really have any suggestions tho

aw man :(
i don't know what to do now
my current university doesn't offer anything of the sort

Ohio University (Scripps School has a specialized advertising area)
Syracuse (Newhouse)
Northwestern (Medill)
Missouri

Northwestern with a 2.0? Be realistic.

what about syracuse?

What state school?
And uh...Newhouse with those stats? No chance.

hmm, what have you heard/read about transferring to there and gpa?

How about Quinnipiac (CT).

What about an art school? They might look more at a portfolio than the a GPA. It might be easier to get into something like that and try a computer arts program, which is kind of related to ad-based marketing programs.
