For any current students out there: please let me know so amazing things about Drexel (besides the Co-op program, as I won’t be able to participate)
There’s so much negativity about the school that I need to think about some good things. Thankfully when I visited today, I like it much better than I thought I would, but I would still like to hear from current students about what they like about this university (anything about the Psychology department would be great!)
Interested too! My D will not be able to attend accepted student day until April 23rd. Any feedback would be helpful. @amyluke714 what did you like about the school?
@pct3
I really liked the urban atmosphere- I didn’t expect to like it because I live by NYC and I really dislike going there, but Philly still has that urban feel while being less crowded and busy (but this is also because I was only by the college area, not actually downtown Philly)
Everyone is super friendly there, or at least the people I’ve met.
The dorms are small, but bearable (I didn’t see the traditional ones though- only suite and hybrid bc those are the same I’m interested in)
The buidling I’ve been in aren’t that old and the teachers seem very dedicated.
However, I’ve only seen very little, so I really need to know more

My D and I attended accepted student day and were extremely impressed. We felt very welcomed and that there was a lot energy and excitement. I liked that the group broke up into tours for the different majors. We met the Dept Chair and 2 current students in her major. They spoke very highly about the professors, classes, greek and social life. My D and I both left the event knowing that Drexel was the right school for her. I have read negativity online about the school. I do have concerns but the positives far outweigh them. I hope this helps.
Hello! I’m a current student at Drexel and yes it it definitely a love/hate relationship. Though, for this I’ll focus on the positives.
Co-op (obviously)
Excellent reputation in Philly and with employers
Location- good if you like the city, lots of transportation, relatively safe
Challenging & fast paced
Most dorms are nice (I lived in Millenium and it is definitely one of the nicer ones-aka no rats, bugs, leaking)
Bottom line is Drexel is not a school for people looking for big sports, school spirit, or to party. It’s a school for people who want experience and a job when they get out. Everyone considering Drexel should understand that. I’m not going to lie it sucks a lot of the time. The 10-week terms are very stressful and make it difficult to balance school and a social life. It is not a school for the weak, but that is why people love it. Be prepared to work your butt of for the next 4-5 years so you can get paid twice as much as your friends that went to any other school and only have blurred memories. Good luck! It is a very big decision!
Also, the food has improved significantly since Drexel changed providers! Still not like home food, but its at least edible (maybe even tasty) now!
@notcommitted what’s your major? I heard that some majors (like engineering) are more rigorous than others
Biology, so yes it is definitely one of the more difficult majors.
