the best time to send in for RD???

Does it make a difference when I send in my app for RD. As long as it is in on time? Will I get results a little faster if it is a little early but not EA?

Not unless the school has rolling admission, in which case you should send in the RD app as soon as possible.

We've wondered the same thing. If an app is RD, is there ANY advantage whatsoever in submitting it in September/October, rather than November/December?

I suppose that one microscopic advantage (and impossible to determine) would be to avoid any implication that a particular application was viewed as a "safety" (particularly a concern at schools supposedly afflicted with the dreaded "Tufts Syndrome"). If a school receives a RD app in September/October, that school definitely knows that the student has real interest in that school and that it's not an afterthought (they don't know the reverse for a later application -- it could be either).

Any disadvantage? I guess the only disadvantage for submitting September/October RD apps would be that a student might submit an app that is not their best work -- they haven't yet practiced that particular set of skills necessary to send in their "best" application.

Bottom-line is probably that there can NEVER be an answer to this question. Thus, you are probably best to not sweat it and simply submit in the manner that works best for you. My D will undoubtedly get in all of RD apps because she's the kind of kid that would be horrified about the prospect of having unfinished apps hanging over her head throughout Sept., Oct., and Nov. -- consistent with her personality, I'm sure she's going to get them all out very early (hopefully avoiding abusing school officials and teachers who delay her and otherwise stand in her way!).

I don't think you will get results faster, but if you send it in Nov, I don't think that is early. If you sent it in before that, you may not have much time to polish up the app, like dudediligence said. But if you send it in early, they have more time to inform you if you are missing something or if there is a problem, so you don't have to freak out at the last minute, and have plenty of time to resolve the problem.
