The better school?

I need help choosing from these schools that I got admission into:

1) Villanova University (top choice)
2) Northeastern University (Boston, not northWESTERN)
3) Fordham University (NY)
4) Penn State University Park
5) University of Scranton

I will be studying business but I would appreciate any feedback about the schools. Thank you in advance!

For the tangibles, Villanova.

The following statements are relative to Villanova. I am not trying to knock any of these schools down, because they are decent overall.

Northeastern- Not too hot of a location in Boston, pails in comparison to other Boston area schools (never good when regarding jobs), and is just somewhat mediocre.

Fordham- Overpriced and in the Bronx

Penn State- Pretty much in the middle of nowhere, but Happy Valley is beautiful. Biz school is decent, but not Villanova level

Scranton- honestly have no idea. Its in Scranton though, not a biz hot spot by any means.

I emphasize location because in business, location is very important. Only schools like Notre Dame can afford to be in the middle of nowhere and still receive copious job offers from firms nationwide.

thankyou so much! so you think I should go for villanova? Im hearing back from Georgetown tomorrow and that is the only thing stopping me from paying the deposit right now for villanova.
But im very excited for villanova and in general, does nova have a good reputation?
thanks!

Gee, I’d hate to see what you would say if you WERE trying to knock a school.

Also: pales not pails, which Northeastern doesn’t.

I thought Georgetown decisions came out the 29th

Sent from my HTC Vision using CC App

Apologies about sounding a bit harsh. Northeastern is a good school, but I would guess that in Boston it ranks behind Harvard, MIT, Tufts, BC, and BU.

And yes, Nova has a very good reputation in the Northeast.

@Dwang93: My college counselors at Georgetown Prep are in touch with the Georgetown Admissions office and they said the letters are being sent out on Friday so we should get them early next week! Good luck dwang93, if you applied.

Thanks to everyone who is giving feedback, when i visited Northeastern, a lot of the locals seemed to look down upon Northeastern and not many people in Maryland know about it, let alone from India (where I am from). I really liked Northeastern as the city campus gave me an amazing vibe but it will be very expensive for my parents and I dont want to put that burden on them (Northeastern Business is atleast 5 year program, whereas Villanova is four years and nova living will be cheaper compared to Boston) This is such a hard call but my heart is sliding towards Villanova, any more feedback would be highly appreciated!
Thanks everyone

The pecking order in Boston is:

Harvard, MIT (obviously)

BC, Tufts

Northeastern,BU

OP, what financial aid did you get at each school? Also, Northeastern can be done in 4 years with 2 coop periods.

TomSrOfBoston: I am an interenational so I did not receive any government aid but I did get $10,000 at Emerson and $12,000 at Scranton, however I am not really considering those schools. At Northeastern, I got into international business and that is atleast 5 years (no 4 year option for this major: i checked)
I am so confused but someone please guide me because I want to choose villanova!

All subjective factors being equal, I advise someone with a list of schools like you do to go to Villanova.

Based soley on numbers, rank and reputation, I agree with the advice to go to Villanova.
The only reason not to is if you think you would be happier elsewhere. If you think it is a good fit for you, then go to the best school on your list.

For the record, I would rank the business programs like this:

Villanova

Penn State and Fordham (tie)

Northeastern

Scranton

Georgetown it is! Thanks guys for all your help :)

Penn State, with not much of a contest. I’d go public in this case. PSU is being discussed in the public ivy category these days. Well known…not limited to east coast reputation as are the others. The small catholics are just too limited. No offense. Good schools, but for the bigger world-is-your-oyster…I think its a well known B-10 school Also PSU is a member of the AAU. These are the best research schools in the country. Make sure that whatever you pick they are AAU. If not…ask a lot of questions. Don’t make that mistake.

International Business can be done in four and a half or five years at Northeastern. It depends on your track and some other details.

That being said, Northeastern is an amazing school. Coop is priceless, and College of Business Administration has numerous excellent teachers. I’m not exactly sure how it stacks up with Villanova in rankings, but I got accepted there as well as to BU, and Northeastern was my top choice hands down. And I did not regret it for a second.

@MitchKreyben: PSU vs gtown: PSU has soo many students so less attention, gtown is not a “small catholic” but one of the most prestigious in the country. I dont want to rule out psu just because of the ranking comparisons but I am leaning towards gtown, please suggest further if you disagree. thanks for your help!

@Kvasek: Northeastern vs gtown: coop is amazing i know but too long (4.5-5 years) and the neu reputation is very weak compared to gtown (I didnt hear anything amazing from too many ppl about neu) I loved boston but im scared to spend $200,000 + at neu whereas gtown seems worth all the student loans. I am not saying neu is not a good school (I was so happy when i got my letter) but in comparison to gtown, I feel like my job prospect is wider at gtown (alumni connections are huge) and i need to pick a college that will get me a decent job instantly after graduation as I am an international student: visa issues n all that. But if you think I am leaning toward the wrong side, please suggest further, thanks for the help

@trizz75 You seem quite knowledgeable here, so i was wondering if you would help me choose between 2 schools that i got admitted into as well. Villanova and Bentley, to study business at both. your advice would be greatly appreciated as i am stuck between which i should go to!

or anyones advice would be appreciated as well!

Do you want liberal arts? more technical? How about location?

@trizz75
I read all the conversations here but still stuck between this two schools…

I actually got into few schools but these two are my final choices…

Money is not a huge issue and i am going to be a undergraduate.

The only thing I worried about penn state is class size. But it seems that it has a great reputation nationally.

Idk man…this two is hard to decide…

Could you help me out please??

Thank you!!!

To be honest, it depends on money. PSU is undoubtedly cheaper. Villanova, however, has a more recognized business program, though not by much; PSU is underrated in my opinion. The Honors College there also is very good. One thing to note, also, is that PSU does not have to compete as hard with other schools as Villanova has to with UPenn.

PSU will have huge class sizes initially. But, as you get into your major, it shouldn’t be much of a problem.
