Those who have been accepted or rejected - what did your envelope (postal mail) look like?

I heard that last year's big envelope was gold for those who were accepted and white for those who were rejected. Is is true for this year as well? And what about those who are deferred/waitlisted??

I was accepted and my letter was gold. I also know that rejection letters are white. I do not know about the waitlist letters. I would guess that they are white, because only acceptance letters are gold.

I think it’s been said somewhere on this forum that “The Big Envelope” actually has “The Big Envelope” printed on it. Check out numerous Youtube UW acceptance videos.

If you open your mail box and you find a gold envelope, then you can relax. If you find a white envelope then it is time to maybe freak out. (Except in the case of being notified if you were accepted to UW honors. I think the envelopes are white no matter what happens). I wish you luck!

It’s not gold, its yellow. I thought it was a brochure for a retirement home until i read the text on the envelope. Yellow with purple. Can’t miss it.

I was accepted last year to UW as a transfer student, and the big envelop was purple. Maybe the envelop color is different (gold/yellow) for freshman students. I have heard that the rejection is a letter size white envelop; whereas, the acceptance is purple/gold big size envelop.

For those people accepted already, did the letter say what major you guys were accepted into for? Because I applied for CS (quite competitive at UW) and my acceptance letter just said I got into UW class of 2016…it did not say my major…

Your guys’ question has been answered numerous times throughout this forum… I’ll say it again.
You DO NOT get an indication of whether or not you were directly admitted to your major until you get an e-mail from the departments. The departments first must determine if you meet the requirements and they will e-mail you saying if you got in or not.
