The Big Game

My stats:

GPA: 4.07 out of 5.0
Ranking: top 10% out of 190ish
Courses: AP US History, AP Government, AP Psychology, AP English Literature, AP English Composition. Otherwise I have a history of taking lots of challenging honors courses.
SAT: 630 V, 680 M, (1310)
ACT: 31 composite

Extracurriculars: working on my Eagle project for Boy Scouts, helped organize an intramural soccer team this fall, worked for four years at local apple orchard (now assistant manager), volunteering with Sudanese refugees for three years, secretary of local National Honors Society chapter,
Awards: Received University of Rochester Excellence in the Humanities and Social Sciences Award last year...only major one
Other interests: Shooting, soccer, snowboarding, ROTC, social studies, etc.

White male (gak!)

Should also mention that my recommendations are excellent (I love my teachers! - one of them who wrote the rec is a former admissions officer so she's on the 'inside') and my essays are okay (nearing completion).

I'm planning to do Army ROTC at the places I get into...that's why Bucknell and Dickinson are at the top of my list (they both offer it directly at their schools instead of through another school)

Applying to (in order of preference):

Bucknell
Colgate
Dickinson
Hamilton
Union
Gettysburg
U. of Rochester (they offered me the award and some money so why not)
Muhlenberg

Feel free to tear me down and tell me the gosh-darned truth, too, I need 100% honesty.

I can't wait until this is over. '05 woohoo!

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

tough assessment haha, umm the sat score is gonna hurt somewhat for colgate and bucknell, i like the act score and your aps, where are the sat ii scores?? I think you have good shot at all your universities other than the first 2, they look like more reach ish schools, it really depends on how well your essays and recommendations are, and of course as i aforementioned your sat ii scores

Didn't take any SAT IIs because none of the colleges I'm applying to require them. Some colleges highly/strongly recommend them, but none of the ones on my list.

I know Colgate is a bit of a reach right now for me but I didn't think Bucknell was...it has much lower SAT and ACT standards than Colgate, as well as a bunch of other stuff. Maybe I'm over-rationalizing the situation.

EDIT: I forgot to thank you for your assessment...Thanks!

Anyone else have an opinion? There's really no point to this except to make me feel either really optimistic or really ****y...but it's all good.

Thanks in advance.

I forgot to add that I got a 4 on my AP U.S. History exam last year.

Anyone else? Good news, bad news, I don't care anymore I'm so tired of this process anyways...gah

Bump...need input. Time approaching...stress building...gggaaaakkkkk

Well my essays are finished, and I should also note that I'm getting an extra recommendation from a family friend who attended Bucknell, basically just telling them another perspective of me.

Anyone have input?

i would be a little concerned about colgate, i had similar stats with legacy and got deferred ED

You're in at Union.

Places I'm pretty sure I could get into as of now (based simply on stats and the like) are:

Dickinson
Union
Gettysburg
Muhlenberg

Sent Bucknell, Hamilton, and UMass Amherst (just as a safety and a financial 'fallback' in case we decide suddenly not to spend 40,000 a year) yesterday
