the big list of acceptances

His audition was January 14th for drama department. His acceptance showed up last Tusday on the UC website under "check status' icon. He received the letter today.

Lynnm,

As of now, he's leaning toward CCM. He likes their overall program and they stress all acting technques including viewpoint. They also have a freshman showcase to introduce you to the local Cincinnati theatre community. UMich is next, but they do not teach Viewpoints at all. Evansville is a great program and he was offered a $12,000 per year talent scholarship, but they really gear you toward grad school. Of course all this is assuming he doesn't get into Julliard. He auditions there Saturday. He had several others but decided not to audition after he got in a few of his top choices.

Lynnm - That is so great! Congrats on PPU! Will tell my D! And to all of you, congratulations on your acceptances and good luck on your auditions. I remember last year, and it was a long and draining process, but it was quite a bonding experience.

I will be working at the BoCo unfieds in L.A. on Monday, Feb. 13, if anyone wants to stop and say hello.

Actordad-

Hi... sorry I didn't clarify. I was curious when his U Mich audition was... I auditioned on Jan. 13th at U Mich and I wanted to see if he heard from those auditions or the first round of auditions.

THANKS

-Zal

PRFMR20,

His audition was on December 3rd. We got a letter just befor x-mas which sounded like a defered letter. We called after the new year and the drama department said that they were delaying admissions until they saw more auditions and that he shouldn't look at it as a deferral, but just that he was in the pool, but no decision was made yet. They did go on to say that he scored "very high" on his audition, but no guarantees.

I know we're not posting academic acceptances anymore, but wanted to share one anyway. D got into PSU & was asked to pick another major as there is not enough room in the BFA MT program (no kidding!)...not an easy task for one who wanted to be all about the arts in College, talk about not having a backup plan! She's still very happy, loves the school, and knows there would still have performing opportunities if she goes, they have dance and theatre minors as well as a dance company and team. So yay for her, another option! Good luck to all of you Unifiders this weekend, I hope you post all about it! GO TEAM CC!
Eileen

Melsmom,

That's great news! Please congratulate your D for all of us here on the list. She must be very happy, and is clearly a smart and sensible young lady to see that she will still have performance opps, even when not in the MT major. Is she auditioning for/applying for other programs, as well? Do you think she will go to PSU?

LDE

Eileen,
Are you implying that the bfa program is already full?
Jeff

I'm not Eileen but NO WAY is it full...there are still auditions to go. Just to assure you, my D got accepted last year for the BFA program at PSU on the last audition day which was at the end of Feb. They do not fill all the slots before the audition dates are complete. I think what Eileen was saying is that her D got an acceptance into PSU (the university) which CONGRATS by the way....but not into the BFA program....which was likely stated in some way as "not enough room" and if you notice Eileen was joking "no kidding". I think she meant that her acceptance was stating that while there is not room for her in their BFA program, they would like to accept her at PSU, the university. The BFA program is not full YET and would not be before the audition dates at that school are completed. In fact, that would be rather unethical to have kids audition when there are no slots left ! Talk about the odds then, lol.

Susan

Susan is right, their wording was just a nice way of saying thanks, but no thanks. They are definitely still auditioning both at the Unifieds and on campus.
LDE, I have to take Susan's past excellent advice of staying completely out of the final decision process. That will be up to my D alone, and though I have my favorite(s), I hope not to sway her one way or the other from any school. It will be hard to do but I am going to try VERY hard to keep it to myself. Her acceptances have all been posted, and they are all acceptable places, and programs. She honestly has no idea yet where she wants to go, just where she doesn't. In fact she has cancelled three auditions since this process started, and only has two to go!

Susan and Eileen,

Thanks. It's getting harder not to hang on each word on this board, looking for some clue that might make this whole experience easier, or at leasr more predictable. The above posts not withstanding, if the program was full, the chances of getting in would be only slightly worse!

You're a funny guy :D It is SO true, however!

Woot! My daughter received a phone call from the Director of Choral Activities at Otterbein, and she's been accepted into their music program with a significant talent award. I noticed she was on the list even though she wasn't applying for MT, so I thought I'd provide an update. Some VERY happy parents and one very humbled kid here; she won't make a final decision until all her schools are heard from, but Otterbein has leapt from "safety" to "safety that she dearly loves and would happily attend." It also just became financially-doable for us with no student or parent loans. Did I mention deliriously, ecstatic parents?!

Congrats to Mezzomom's D. That's a nice accomplishment!

Congratulations! That's amazing and wonderful. My D is only a sophomore right now, but Otterbein is high on her list of "schools I would LOVE to attend" when the time comes. It must be a huge relief not only to have had her accepted, but also to have the school offer some money. I am already worrying how we are gonna pay for college for both our girls, at the cost that college is today.

You must be on Cloud Nine ...

LDE

Mezzomom....

Congrats to your d!! Your excitement came across to all of us and I am so very happy for you! How absolutely wonderful!!!

kathie (kaysmom)

mezzomom: WOW! Congratulations!! Special kudos on the significant dollars from Otterbein. Sleep well tonight.

I just responded to you on the Otterbein thread but it's worth one more shout out....congratulations to your daughter! Great affirmation, must feel wonderful. She's got a great option to consider this spring!

Enjoy,
Susan

Fantastic news Mezzomom!
