I've noticed alot of threads here with lists of who's been accepted where from college confidential. Well I think that's great. It's been a tough year. Now we deserve to proclaim our success and congratulate eachother.

But there's no collective list from people stating where they were rejected from. I guess I can understand that. It's kind of a depressing topic. But the truth is that the rejections were just as important a part of this year as the acceptances. The acceptances may have been what we were fighting for, but the rejections were what made us fight. They were our motivation to work just that much harder for the next audition.

Also it's probably good for the up and coming MT majors to see just how crazy and competitive this world is. Too see that yes, it's perfectly normal and acceptable to audition for 9 schools as I did and only get 1 or 2 acceptances. Even if you get rejected from your dream school life still some how goes on.

So I say to hell with feeling ashamed or embarrased because someone said you weren't good enough for them. To hell with wondering if you're doing the wrong thing with your life. To hell with any sort of self doubt. Stand up, say "I am a reject and I'M DAMN PROUD OF IT!"

Now I may end up having no replies on this thread and just looking sort of foolish. . . but I don't care about looking foolish. I'm posting my list, anyone else can feel free to do the same

Good point. I've mentioned this elsewhere, but our son's first response from a school was a rejection - from Baldwin Wallace. As a conservatory program, it didn't come as a surprise, but coming only a week after his audition, very early on in November, it was a major disappointment. It remained his only rejection. He went on to be accepted at the other M/T programs to which he applied, as well as the one non-audition school where he applied. True to form, though, he was not even called back at his very first audition when he was 10 years old. Since then he has been fortunate to have a fair amount of success in theatre. He never hesitates to share with his peers, especially, the younger kids, about his first major disappointment 8 years ago. It is that type of life - world; hopefully, building better, stronger artists every day.

Last year rejected:
Ithaca (accepted academically)
Hartford (accepted academically)
NYU (waitlisted first, then rejected eventually)
Yale (obviously not for MT, but same thing)
Syracuse (sort of...)

I was rejected at all the schools I applied to for mt. This includes:
OCU (accepted theatre performance)
UNCO (accepted academically)
Ithaca
Emerson (accepted academically)
Hartt (accepted academically)
PSU (accepted academically)

Pretty depressing year for me, but I'm sure I will enjoy OCU next year nonetheless.

Cincinnati Conservatory of Music (academically accepted)
Boston Conservatory
New York University
Emerson College
Ithaca College
Otterbein College (academically accepted)
University of Miami
University of the Arts

the funny thing? I still feel very talented...haha GO CAL STATE FULLERTON

Last year not accepted (sounds nicer than rejected!):
Syracuse, Ithaca, BoCo, Emerson, Hartt, Penn State, U of Arts, Carnegie Mellon, Point Park, Otterbein, Elon, Fl. St., Central Florida, Miami, Webster (Accepted Millikin, New World School of Arts, Barry U)
This year: U of Arts, Miami (Accepted BoCo, Point Park, Marymount)

We haven't gotten this far in the process yet because my DD is a freshman in h.s., but I think if you're going to be in Musical Theatre, you need to start embracing those rejections! Professional auditioning is all about rejection. So congratulations to you for making your college rejections into character-building experiences. :)

Ha ha!! I love your wit, carnivorous! And with your personality, I'm sure we'll see you on the big stage in no time! I applaud everyone's efforts, regardless!

Rejected MT: CCM (academically accepted into UC), Otterbein (Pres. scholarship, academically accepted), Ithaca (didn't request second choice, so I'm not sure about academics...)

what schools did you get into? My daughter is a junior in hs and this site really makes you really understand how competitive this business is!!
