A lot of people seem to recommend the official Blue book?? is this book really good?? and does the book provide explanations along with the tests?? or is it just a collection of past SAT tests??? Also, how would one go about studying for the vocab?? i know there are flashcards, vocab books etc... but there's only so much one can do to improve their vocab in such a short span of time!

Well the Blue Book is the one published by the Collegeboard, so the questions are very similar to the types of question asked on the SAT. From what I remember, the book does provide explanations for the answers on the tests, and also gives some review material as well as test-taking strategies.

For vocab, I personally think the best way to improve vocab is not to sit down and memorize lists of words, but to read challenging material, and to make a note of looking up words that are unfamiliar (either as you're reading, or after you're finished the article/book) Of course, that's more of a long-term preparation, but then you see the word being used in context, and I think that's a more effective way of remembering and using words. Other posters may disagree.

Correction to he guy above: the blue book doesn't provide explanations, it just gives the letter of the answer. You have to buy some answer booklet that comes separately from it for explanations.

But yeah, most like it because there are 9 tests or something and they're really similar to the actual SAT

^ Ah, my mistake then, must have confused it with another book (Princeton maybe? Or maybe I'm thinking about a review book for a completely different test :P)
