The boring stuff

Hey people who know (basically Anarchy): What bank is on campus? know anything bout atms on campus?

Go ahead and post any other general info questions here.

theres something on the website about it. ill get u the link. and by the way do yall see how cc upgraded the site?

<a href="http://students.syr.edu/parents/banks.htm%5B/url%5D">http://students.syr.edu/parents/banks.htm</a></p>

There are two banks, HSBC and Chase, at the corner of South Crouse and (Irving?) - just around the corner from Marshall Street. Chase closes at 6pm, HSBC at 5:30 (I went to set up an account at like 5:25 at HSBC and the woman didn't want to set me up an account, so I went across the street to chase - guess they mustn't have wanted my business too badly).

A Bank of America is going up on the corner of Marshall St. and South Crouse I believe, replacing the Hershey's Ice Cream joint (omg loved this place!! i give them enough business that they shouldn't go byebye!)

Good thing is that they all want your money enough (and expect you to overdraft enough) that they offer college students free banking. No signup fee, no monthly fees, no minimum balance, etc. At least thats the deal Chase gave me. Too bad that the only Chase-owned ATM is at their branch office.

ATM fees range from $1.25 using the dorm ATMs (which don't work half the time) to $2.75 in other places. There is an ATM in every dorm, usually by the vending machines. There is one at a credit union on South Crouse St by Lucy's Bar and one outside of Schine on the side facing Newhouse (these charge more than $1.25, but not has high as $2.75)

Next best option is to buy a fireproof lockbox (the sort Al Gore would like) and hide it under your mattress :-)
