So, I would think it obvious that I can't use a copyrighted image for the box on the Rice app. However, I can't draw. I know exactly what I want to put in the box (PM me if you want to know), but I don't know how to find an image of it that's not copyrighted or otherwise "taken". What are your suggestions?

umm… PM me with details. the post is too vague…

I put a small booklet with a story in it. the story was about my pet owl that I rescued. The cover had a picture of the owlet sitting on my finger…

so be creative. PM me and I can advise if possible

I understand your concern about copyrighted images but honestly I think the importance of the box is really overestimated. I applied before I ever went on CC or knew that people stressed so much about the box.

I drew stick figures of my family and I, along with smiling flowers and a sun. And I did just fine. So don’t stress too much over it and just do the best you can.

i somehow never knew about the box until it was too late and didn’t submit it. ever. so i’d say don’t worry tooo much…

I wouldn’t worry about it - its not as if you are trying for any commercial gain with your image. D copied her favorite far side cartoon (definitely copyrighted) and she is now an owl

all I can say is dont put any real rice in it nor write “this is where I think” outside the box

yeah… real rice or rice grain related stuff will get you a EPIC FAIL for originality

What about writing “this is where I think” INSIDE the box?

Err, that’s probably not a great idea either unless you’re planning to transfer to your local CC.

What does the copyrighted image say about you? It is far better to provide something of your own creation. Even if not expertly drawn, it says more about who you are than anyone else’s idea. When I coached a creative problem solving team, it was always preferable and showed much more creativity to invent something yourself than to copy another’s idea.

Thanks, Antarius.

^^ check your PM.
