I had my interview last saturday and it went amazing! The interviewer was from my area and she had graduated from Brown last year. It was a casual interview and I feel like there wasnt a hesitation in any of us. She asked me generic questions and gave me the opportunity to ask her many questions. She loved Brown and talking to her has made me wish for my acceptance even more! She even said I seemed like a Brown student!( they probably say that to everyone, but whatever!) Dont worry for your interview! Just be yourself. I hope we all hear good news soon.

so do decisions come out after 5:00 eastern time or after 5:00 for every time zone? like if i’m in a mountain time zone will I find out at 5:00 or 3:00?

I’m guessing 5pm EST, which is the time zone of Brown (clearly). Calculate your time based of of EST.

YESSSSSSS. Now I won’t have two excruciating hours to wait after school on the day that decisions are released.

Uhm, the next two weeks are going to be pretty excruciating for me, but I’m trying not to think about it (thinking, lurking on here, ect. won’t get me in at this point).
Goodluck to you, samwise3!

This won’t be the official results thread, right?

I believe that Brown used staggered admission release times last year to ameliorate the issue of the website going down in previous years. They may or may not be doing the same thing this year. Regardless, you should be getting some kind of notification from them within the next week about exactly when your decision will be available.

I found a website that said Dec. 12 after 5pm ([Brown University Early Admission Decision](http://admissiondecision.brown.edu/)). Ahhhh time to wait now :(

My daughter just got an email requesting an interview tonight at 10:20 pm. It looks like it will be on Saturday Dec. 1st at the interviewer’s home. The tone of the email was not the least bit friendly. Oh well …

interviewer’s HOME? sketch. Go to a coffee shop.

My D interviewed twice at alum’s homes. (Neither was Brown – that was a Starbucks.) I think that if the alum is willing to host the student in his/her home, they will likely be pretty friendly. You can’t always judge personality accurately from an email. Tell her “good luck” – review the four measures they report, and be smart and charming. I’m sure it will be fine.

The interviewer is probably stressed out since dec 1st is our deadline to submit. Who knows how many interviews they need to do.

We are told to avoid interviewing people in our own homes but if this person is doing an interview on dec 1st they aren’t exactly on top of their stuff.

I dont think that that is true.

My interviewer said it was okay if I wanted to do it on the 2nd too but I insisted on the 1st as I have an exam on the 3rd.

Anyways, if you dont mind me asking. What did you guys answer to the “Why Brown” question?

What are the four measures that they report? Hope I did well in those categories haha…
I would assume interest in Brown would be one.

Maybe it varies by area but the deadline given to me to submit my evaluation of the student by my regional chair was december 1st. There were even generic mass follow up emails a few weeks ago saying there was no shame in admitting you wouldn’t get to interview and submit before then and to let them know so they could assign a different interviewer. It’s also possible that your person IS the regional chair and the december 1st deadline provides a buffer for them to ensure it’s actually in by december 3rd or something like that.

My deadline for interview submission is December 1st, according to my interviewer. I doubt that deadline is nationally stringent.
I’m curious to hear about what the four measures are, too.

For “Why Brown” I said I want to gain a global perspective on life and how I think. I started out by explaining how Texas is its own little bubble, it’s own little world (and humorously mentioned how we’re “trying to secede” right now; you can tell how much I love my state, right?) that I’m ready to venture out of. I told her I wanted an institution that would challenge and stretch the way I perceive things as a scientist and thinker, and Brown’s open curriculum, vibe, ect. could give me that global connection I’m looking for. I’m also avid about community service, so getting connected with the world in the way I think, interpret situations, ect. would help supplement my love of connecting with and giving back to the community.
I hope I expressed enough interest in Brown, but I also feel like my interview was extremely different from most people’s so far.

Search of old threads only reiterated the obvious - absence of interview or request for 1st quarter grades mean “nothing”. Sum of parts still “nothing”, we think. Just wondering if there are there other cases like our child’s…

Binding ED with PLME Only option: No interview yet : School/GC called for 1st quarter report (Nov30)

Lets’ acknowledge what we all know already: Every Brown and PLME application is very strong, and every admissions cycle is a little different. ED results just 11 days away, and speculations can only add to angst now or the 12th.

@plme21maibe

Wait do they check 1st quarter reports for everyone!!,??? cuz my first quarter sucked… (2 a- and 1 b+ which isn’t that bad but seems like slacking compared to my straight a record)

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

My GC wasn’t asked for first quarter grades…Maybe it’s random?

@xmsamurai - Take a deep breath, and relax. NO, Brown does not check everyone’s 1Q reports. Brown policy is “optional - for 1st quarter reports” and “required - for mid-year / 1st semester reports”. Further, most HS GCs exercise good judgement and never send in a bad 1Q report when it is optional. By internal policy, our HS does not send 1Q reports (good or bad), unless explicitly requested to do so. In this specific instance, Brown requested, and our GC satisfied the request - easy, straight-A’s in all-AP-schedule. To allay an other fears out there, there is nothing in the academic record or the application warranting the request either.

May be it has something to with the PLME-only selection (not clear how many in PLME pool check this option) or some other esoteric factor or may just be random as @risubu wondered. For sure, it is foolhardy to divine Brown’s intent.

Given the known rarity of Brown requesting 1Q reports and the small # of PLME applications (~400), and most CC posts indicating completed interviews (Dec 1 deadline for alumni interview reports?) - it is rather unlikely that we will see another CC posted instance. To expand the sample population a bit more, I would like to hear about either of the two situations independently. 1) Brown offered “no interview” 2) Brown requested “1st quarter report”.

Is there an Official Results thread yet? Surely this one is just discussion, or…?
