@col2017: No, it is not usual. Actually quite unusual, at least by the CC community standards.

RELAX. Assuming that you self reported available AP/IB scores in common app already, I would venture, it can only mean that you are getting a real serious look; More importantly your application is probably * not in the 1st-read reject-or-defer stack piles * already (despite impeccable credentials, most end up there simply because of Brown’s super-selectivity). Wish you all the best!

Best case = 1st read admit loose ends;
Worst case = committee deliberations.

ps: CC’s usefulness is severely limited in atypical cases. I am also curious about your earlier “self-fulfilling prophecy” post. I will PM you, if you wish to discuss off-line.

@col2017: Does your high school GC send 1st quarter report? If not, that might be the reason why Brown asked for the predicted IB/AP scores instead. If yes, then you should be happy that Brown is super interested in you.

Hey guys, I’m applying to brown engineering ed and am super nervous/anxious just like everyone else here! is anyone here applying ed to the engineering school at brown?

My D got email today saying below. She submitted mid-october and had interview several weeks ago. Fingers crossed – but she is not waiting to apply RD decision to other schools. Has submitted 8/9 apps plus arts supps already! Good luck to all here!

Columbia’s and Dartmouth’s Official ED Results are in. Time to convince myself that it doesn’t pertain to me and Brown’s applicant pool that so many qualified students got rejected from those schools this year…

Tawarren95, lots of qualified students get rejected at all the top schools; there just aren’t enough spots available for the cream of the 1.5 million high schools who graduate every year. The question you should be asking yourself is: are you a good fit for Brown? People who are a good fit for Brown are not necessarily a good fit for those other institutions.

Yes, I know. My point was simply that it’s a tough year at other schools (and it gets tougher and tougher) and seeing other qualified students get rejected or deferred is a bit unsettling. Of course, many qualified students have been rejected and many will be in the future.
I’ve just been telling myself that Dartmouth is not Brown, and Columbia is not Brown; comparing will just freak me out until the big day comes.

Do we check our Brown decisions with the same website/login information that we used to check our application status? I haven’t received any other information from Brown about decisions.
