NOTHING! I ran home for nothing....

Location: San Francisco
NOTHING!!

Dinuba, CA
Got home, mail was sitting in the box. Was worried that there was no tube (and no slip saying I had anything to pick up). But upon riffling through some credit card bills, a K-Mart ad, postcards from the Navy and Air Force, two letters from other colleges (George Washington and WPI), I got to the end, and nothing from MIT.

Heck, nothing even remotely close to Massachusetts.

Oh well, better luck tomorrow, I suppose. Good luck to you all! (It does seem a little funny saying that, as it's already been decided, we're just waiting to see it for ourselves).

NOTHING

I was in art class and my mom called me. I told her not to, but when she called me I couldn't stop myself from picking up. I ran out of the classroom, telling my teacher that this phone call could change my life. She called me to say that there was nothing in the mail from MIT.

At least the two acceptances from MIT that reached CA today is for the Bay Area. Looks like Southern California will be waiting anxiously tomorrow.

i have a friend who has a girlfriend that's applying. nothing yet.

about sadoian's comment"

"better luck tomorrow" is a movie about asian teenagers from california who have no problem getting into colleges like mit. they don't even sweat the application process.

so, yes, for those of you from california, better luck tomorrow and don't sweat it. lol, like that'll happen.

When I saw this thread first on the top of the list, I said "of course it's the CA thread, it's about 3 AM EST," but then the poster ended up being someone from Cambridge, HAHA. CC is definitely a place with a lot of academically committed to be staying up this late (I stay up until about 3 AM PST, so we're all "committed"). Cmon USPS, Southern CA needs you.

So it seems to me that the prediction of the "two batches" of mail is turning out to be true. We know that MIT had the second floor offices working on the acceptances, and the first floor working on the deferrals and rejections. I guess the deferrals and rejections were sent out after. I'm just hoping that CA applicants are just a product of a long wait for the postal service and that our mail wasn't prepared from the first floor.

What's up, people?

I know you guys are thinking the same thing, so PLEASE say something.

2 issues at work here:
a) Distance between MIT and Cali is large, so MAYBE there's still hope
b) Defected letter fiasco... I'm &*^%ed for sure

Thoughts?
Still no word here in Mar Vista (L.A.)

I gotta go do the Stanford app.

Czar, have you read ben's blog?

The deferral/rejection letters have been mailed out later than the tubes.

I think we got deferred or rejected.

namkin-

yeah.. that was the "Defected (DEFerred/rejECTED) letter fiasco" I was referring to.

Meh. Oh well. Maybe in three months.

czar:

good look in your RD man.

This is so bad... I feel like I'm always having a heart attack everyday in school. I can't keep waiting like this. No one in Southern Cal has gotten anything yet, so we can always hope...

FYI - two years ago my son's acceptance letter came a week-and-a-half after it was post-marked. He had already called to get his decision. Don't give up yet!
