Hii it seems like Northeastern has a small campus for having 15000 undergrads. Do you find it really small? Also how city-like is it? Cause it appears to be right in boston, except it seems different than Boston University which is directly in the city & not much of a campus.
Alot of kids move off campus im guessing ?

Also are athletics BIG at northeastern? Are they any good? lol

Just some answers to these questions would be appreciated thankss

There are other threads that discuss this. In summary, Northeastern has a suprisingly nice “campus feel” considering that it is in the middle of Boston. (You are right - not at all like BU).

These photos may help you get a feel for the campus

I’ve walked through Ruggles Station and the campus at 10:30pm and haven’t encountered any problems. Northeastern has a very good campus feel, compared to BU. (I walked through a part of BU at 6:30pm and I didn’t feel safe… just because BU’s too spread out for security to cover every block, I guess.)

After attending parent sessions at orientation, I feel the campus is always safe. They have an extensive security force. Excursions off campus, especially at night, would be best done with city-smarts in groups.

Students are guaranteed housing through third year. I’d be interested to know how hard it is to stay on campus longer. Campus housing is not cheap, but I’m betting that Boston apartments are not cheap either.

Well, I’ve been here about 3 weeks now. I live out in International Village, and have felt more than safe walking through Ruggles and through the campus at midnight to go study and print in the library. It’s a VERY campus feel. During the day hours, yes, you’ll see commuters moving about (especially towards Ruggles and Forsyth circle), but it’s really mainly students. A good chunk of upperclass students DO live on campus, as the upperclass apartments are actually very nice.

Since a large number of students do co-ops after soph yr, the number of students in class/on campus at any given time is much smaller than 15,000 - which also adds to its smaller campus feel.

thanks everyone for the responses and the link. That’s what I was hoping to hear, I was just making sure it had a campus feel.
Are athletics big at Northeastern, like they are well attended and alot of people go to them or not really.

re how popular sports are: according to my S hockey is VERY big, attendance at basketball games is increasing. Football was cancelled last fall. The rest - not so much…

Hockey is popular and pretty well attended. Basketball has gotten some attention recently because an NEU player just signed to the Suns. Otherwise, no one cares much about sports. Not really the best school for someone looking for tailgates, big games, lots of school spirit, except maybe during Beanpot (hockey tournament between BU, Harvard, BC, and NEU).
