The Case for Case?

Hi,
I've been looking at CWRU's website and was surprised at how nice their campus looks from the pictures. My D is a rising senior and is thinking of applying there as an engineering student. I heard they sometimes are generous with merit aid too.
I'd like to hear from current or former students at Case and what their perspectives and experiences have been there.

Hi! I am a current freshman at Case and I absolutely love it-- the campus is beautiful! It’s incredible for engineering- not sure what type your daughter is looking for but they have everything! The most popular are biomedical, mechanical, and computer, but they have chemical and half a dozen other types of engineering too! They are quite generous with aid too-- I know several students on my floor with at least 17,000 in merit aid. I’m a nursing student and received an 11,000 nursing scholarship along with a science grant, which was absolutely incredible! Please feel free to write back or message me privately if you have any other questions!

Hello 2girlzmum,

This semester will be my 4th at Case and I too love the school. Campus really is beautiful no matter what time of year it is.
As you probably know, engineering majors are the majority at Case especially Biomedical and for good reason. Case is one of the top engineering schools in the country. It is very challenging, but there are numerous resources on campus to help out with anything and everything. The professors are passionate and actually enjoy teaching, which is fairly difficult to come by.
As far as financial aid goes, Case is definitely generous, at least in my experience.
I have received about $25,000 in grant money from the school itself and of course federal grant money. The office of financial aid is very willing to work with the family and their needs.

Hey samonster & jkrtist,

Thanks for weighing in. I think professors who enjoy teaching is a HUGE plus! Did you guys visit campus before you applied? I don’t think we’ll be able to swing a visit from Colorado this fall.

Hi! I’ve found that every one of my professors is extremley engaging and really wants to help students learn, not just cover a certain number of pages in a textbook. I think this is really rare, based on what friends at other schools have told me! I actually didn’t visit the campus before I applied, and I actually didn’t get to see it until after I had already accepted (which I know sounds crazy!). I’m from out of state too and couldn’t get there, but I was accepted to 8 schools and waitlisted to 2 and my choice came down to Case and one other school. I had seen the other school already and I could already tell that Case was perfect for me. I was super nervous, of course, for the Admitted Students Overnight Weekend in April when I saw the campus for the first time, but I fell in love immediately. Please let me know if you have any other questions! Students who are really passionate about Case love talking about the school!!!

Great to hear, jkrtist. It looks like there will be a Case rep. at one of the local college fairs next month, so we’ll be sure to speak to him/her. Thanks again!
