The Castilian/Dobie Center

Anybody have any opinions on these places? And, whether they are worth it for freshman??

Dobie; castillian is terrible in every way imaginable. Everything about the place is cheap, the elevators are the slowest, and the maintenance people do not care.

I've heard very mixed reviews of Dobie. Some call it a "party" dorm and a social center, others call it anti-social. The truth is probably in the middle--it's not going to be Jester or Towers, but it is likely more social than, say Goodal Wooten. The facilities are very nice, and it's very convenient to shopping. I've heard that a lot of the kids who stay there are international students and/or minority students, so if you fit into that niche Dobie might be a great place for you. I don't know if that's a typical thing though or just what my friends have noticed.

The Castilian markets themselves as an upscale/luxury dorm but in reality is a piece of crap. Most of the kids I know who have lived there in the last 3-5 years hated the facilities, some even tried to move to Towers mid-year. I've also heard that the Castilian kids bond in its crappiness and really like each other--kinda weird because you would think that they'd want to get out of the crappiness and tbus never be around one another.

I also want to know where they got my address from. I've already signed a contract with DHFS, but the Castilian has sent me like 3 mailings trying to get me to sign a lease.
