The Castilian

Has anyone else received mail from them? Does anyone know much about it? The Castilian advertises itself as a student dorm, and from what it appears, it's both cheaper and nicer than most of the on-campus dorm halls. It seems like a promising prospect, but I wanted to get some second opinions first.

Yeah same here. Is it also like on campus?

Their website is

[The Castilian, Austin, TX, University of Texas, dormitory and residence hall, UT student housing](http://www.thecastillian.com)

It’s a private dorm and therefore isn’t owned by UT but is affiliated with them and houses students from there as well as other local schools.

I’m going to visit it this weekend so if there’s anything in particular you want to know I can try to ask the people there:)

Oh by the way I know all of this because I’ve been looking into it myself for next year:)

I guess my main concern is whether I’d miss out on the “dorm experience” if I were to stay at the Castilian. Otherwise, the Castilian looks nicer than the other dorms, and is about the same price.

I’ve heard: Just be careful how you schedule your classes. If you have an evening class you might find you miss dinner those nights and then have to pay out of pocket to eat somewhere else. Kitchen is not open except at limited times. Its not like at home where you can just go to the kitchen and fix a sandwich if you miss dinner. Just be aware.
