I think that as we come closer and closer to the decision date, we are all becoming more and more anxious. I mean i normally NEVER post on the boards but as the decision time comes i feel inclined to post on random topics. Also its SO funny to go through the situation with characters like Apfreak and DHA_3000 and Collegebound and some of the other posters.

I honestly think somebody should make a movie about people all over the nation applying to elite colleges and their lives and how we all meet on CC and critic and agonize over each other as the admission decision comes.

I mean other then truly informed individuals like Byerley and NSM and a few others who can rightly give out advice and are in a postion to answer chances threads everyone else seems so weird. The funny thing is NSM and Byerly are the least common people to comment on chances and yet are one of the only ones in a postion to do so.

If someone who is applying with you tells you " you need higher X and you did good on X but need to not emphasize X " and they themselves havent made it, its like wow your telling me this but i bet you have shortcomings to and so why arent you working on them now.

But i have to admit, i like just posting and reading a reassuring " you did good, you have an awesome shot" since its the closest thing to "DEC14- EMAIL-college @ fas. harvard. edu- Dear Sir you are Admitted".

I wouldn't trust someone who comments by saying "you did good." Most likely because grammatically it's "you did well." Even NSM and Byerly can't evaluate us because they don't know anything more about us than how we look on paper. Most people don't list their race, location, income, essay, recommendations, transcripts, background, etc... Some of the threads on this board have been rather.... interesting. I think I'd be cool to have a thread where people list their scores, gpa, rank, race, location, ecs, and other detailed information and whether or not they were accepted. The only person I'm pretty sure of who will be accepted is that kid from that great school, andover or something, with a double legacy, amazing stats, great ecs, ect... He'd have to totally blow his interview or something to not be accepted. "Just turn over the documents, and let it all be done."

I just read through most of it... The one thing I noticed is that 50%+ of the people were asians, all were from the NE, Cali, Texas, and one from Ohio (even though they have 100s of applicants each year) It seems that only people who have hooks get in... Like Harvard just picks out a best-selling author, a kid who's parent donated 10 million bucks,a kid from wyoming, a poor black person from the ghetto, etc... However, a lot of good applicants without a hook got in.

ha at least you guys have no say in the matter any more. you already fired your bullet, now you just have to check if it hit. us juniors on the other hand have to go through a year of worrying and working. we have all this work to do, we have sat's, grades, ecs and a ton of time to worry about them. this is difficult for us.
