Chance for these schools please in no particular order.

U of M- TC

UW-Madison
-Iowa State
-St.Olaf
-St.John's University

Carelton ( I know)
-St.Thomas

Also any suggestions for schools in the midwest would be helpful,
thanks.

bump…

I’m no expert, but here I go …
U of M- TC good chance
UW Madison good chance
Iowa State IN
St. Olaf slight reach
St. John’s University IN
Carleton reach, but not unattainable
St. Thomas IN

again, take what I have to say wth a grain a salt, as I’m definitely no expert.

haha Im just generally thankful for a response. thank you.
of course, I still plan to apply to these schools, but I would really like to go to Carelton or St.Olaf and Ive been talking with their admissions counselors about it too :D

All I can say is wow. You have a great shot at majority of these schools. You broke 28 on the ACT so that’s good. As for your race, you have 3 options to identify yourself as so that is also good.

U of M- TC - In/Low Reach

UW-Madison - IN (I know people with not so great credentials and got in)
-Iowa State - Low Reacg
-St.Olaf-In
-St.John’s University - In

Carelton ( I know) -Medium Reach
-St.Thomas-Low Reach/In

Overall, you’re good. Nice credentials and you have a lot to offer. Good luck man.

haha thanks a bunch. Im really hoping to get into St.Olaf right now, but I think Iowa State is the safest of all of them, because of my RAI beign 300+

bump…

Do you have ancestors from the “Original Peoples of the Americas”? If so, you are indeed tri-racial, if not, you are bi-racial (AA and white):

https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/docs/downloadforms/CommonApp2010.pdf

As a Brazilian, you don’t qualify as Hispanic/Latino for college admissions purposes, but you do for the National Hispanic Recognition Program:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/hispanic-students/641650-hispanic-latino-defined.html

actually I do have acestors of the native south american amazonian type descent, approximately 1/16. My mother was a black brazilian and my dad was white. The amazonian indian is on her side.

also, I apparently check the “other” box as a non-mexican hispanic of a south american country.

If anyone can chance me it would be greatly appreciated.

Ah, I am awful because I don’t know many of these schools. :frowning: Anyway, I will just look at yours stats. You race will definately help you, and your ACT scores are very nice. Your GPA is a bit low, but your ECs demonstate passion and commitment, along with leadership, all of which are great qualities. All I can say is that you might want to improve your ACT a point or two and your GPA a bit, and you can actually apply to even “better” schools. However, you stats are good, so I think you are rather competative. Best of luck!

thank you rmadden15, it helps to have a little re-affirmation, and honesty that when people don’t knw the schools they are honest of them.

bump…
I hate bumping my own threads, but seriously if anyone else has some form of input that would be really great. :D

U of M- TC

UW-Madison - match/in
-Iowa State
-St.Olaf - match
-St.John’s University

Carelton ( I know)
-St.Thomas

Sorry i dont know much about most of these schools :frowning: but i have a feeling youll get into most of them for this reason: I think youll write great essays. You should write at least one about new anchoring!! That would be so awesome! Good luck, and start on your essays soon

U of M- TC good chance
UW Madison good chance
Iowa State in
St. Olaf reach
St. John’s University in
Carleton reach
St. Thomas in

thanks a bunch.
I’m wondering what I can do to make St.Olaf not as much of a reach though.
I know I can write great essays, thats not a problem, my letters of reccomendation will be stellar, I’m involved in religious as well as competitive academic activities and have seen success in both. admittedly my GPA is a little low, but my ACT is well within their ranges. I’m taking the SAT and planning on a 2000+ because critical reading is my forte and math is a good point too. What more can I do, I plan to emphasize my grade trend, but I don’t know how much more I can do. My class rigor is high as well.

I think St. Olaf is a good match for you.

If St. Olaf is truly your first choice, the best thing you can do is apply early decision. It will show your interest, they will give your application greater consideration, and you have a much better likelihood of admission when you apply ED.

Of course, the binding nature of ED can be a problem, especially if you need to compare financial aid offers, but St. Olaf usually has pretty good financial aid.

yeah, I know that ED will bolster my chances, but the FA comparison is a necessity for me. :/

I’m not sure about all these schools, but your stats should give you a chance at all of them. Good ACT and your in-state status will help you at Min. You have a lot of good ECs and if you’re applying for business, schools will really like that you started your own business (at least I would think).

Will you be sending both ACTs?
