What do you plan on participating at Choate?

What's the main reason you want to apply there?

Any soccer players out there that want to come?

Although my name suggests I am andover hopeful, Choate is actually and currently my number 1. I am applying as a junior repeat. I’m applying to three schools, andover, choate, and (a school i would not like to mention for now). Most likely play football haha, I love the program there. Probably join debate and model un. main reason- hmm I just love the school’s atmosphere.

Boys Volleyball and the awesome Performing Arts Program!

andoverhopeful,

Ah, I’ll be a junior next year as well. I do Model UN too—I think we have a great program!

bronxkid,

I was a partial volleyball recruit, but I’ll be having my first season starting in the spring. So we’ll see how that goes.

Good luck you two!

We’re in the same boat… Kinda. Except I’m not a recruit at all. Just a kid with really good grades who plays volleyball on a competitive level (not sure if this is considered a recruit… I wasn’t approached by a coach or anything like that. I’m applying through a very prestigious program in NYC for very bright students. Accepting only 30 out of 400 applicants. Only a 7.5% admission rate!) . And I wish I could see the game!

Choate’s my number 1 too!

I’d give anything to get into Choate…

I think I have a fairly good chance because I’m sort of a hockey recruit and the coach is the assistant director of admissions, but I don’t want to get to set on Choate until I find out for sure.

I tried contacting the boys volleyball coach, but he never got back to me

zdoub99-

The coach is one of six associate directors of admissions but he’s the assistant director of athletics. Undoubtedly if he wants you you’ll have an advocate on the admissions committee.

Bronxkid, try reaching out again…the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

How should I approach him? Like " hi, I’m not sure if you’ve received my first email, but…?

sure, something like that, why not?
I’d call the main number and ask for his extension. Leave him a VM if he doesn’t pick up.

Let him know you didn’t get a chance before, but wanted to let him know _______.

Can’t hurt…decisions are being made, it may be good timing…:o)

I sent him am second email… He hasn’t responded… If he doesn’t respond soon, I’m going to call him, what should I say though? It’ll be weird to just call and say “hi I’m interested in volleyball!” any specific methods of communicating with him?

Tell him you are an applicant and that you play volleyball and that you really want to come to CRH, is there any additional info you can send? Ask some pertinent questions about the team and what type of players they need; show genuine interest.

The fact that you’ve emailed twice is good and demonstrates your strong desire. Hopefully, if he has any decency he will followup with you.

Thanks, if he doesn’t email back by Tuesday, I’ll be sure to call back I’ll notify everyone of my decisions on M10 :)
