No you guys have it wrong. NYU is up... #`s have increased

cite your source re: NYU.

Here's ours and it's a decline:

The accpetance letter for San Diego State said more that 57,167 apllications for fall 2007 but the admission officer said it was closer to 60,000 apps with 11,000-12,000 being transfer apps. Unbelievable!

death of classifying safety, match, reach. the top kids will always get in. but once outside of that uber range, it becomes increasingly important to show the interest.

I appreciate the effort in your applications numbers list, but there are some factors at play that affect the number of apps. For eg: NYU for the first time is requiring 2 SATIIs. Some people just don't know what to take or don't get to it and then don't apply. Hopkins dropped their requirement for the subject tests this year, their apps go up. Franklin and Marshall went test optional for all standardized testing....20% jump in apps.

^^^^^
to add to this comment, look at northwestern...they jumped in apps by nearly 20%...this is also the first year they are using the common application...

Wow - that's a large jump! What is likely to happen to their admissions percentage? How much of a drop? Regardless, I guess I'll know in 12 days.

A surge in applications is pretty commonplace when a school goes to the common application. Wait until Stanford does it....

However, a surge in applications doesn't necessarily mean that the quality of their applicant pool will change. Northwestern is always going to be darn tough to get into...

^ good point. Thanks.

Franklin and Marshall had a 23% increase in applications. See the Franklin and Marshall thread for a comment from the Director of Admissions.
