My daughter was emailed after she submitted her EA application and “invited” to apply for the College Scholar award. Is that just a pro forma? In looking at previous years’ threads, it doesn’t look like the College Scholar Award offers more aid than the Dean’s Scholarship if awarded but does slow down the notification process. Did others apply for College Scholar?
My Son applied EA and he was also emailed about the College Scholar award. At his campus interview, the host suggested that there was a financial award with this scholarship in addition to the Dean’s Scholarship.
Hoping to hear soon. We did a pre-read through athletics.
Thanks. It looks like some people found out prior to that date in earlier years so I wasn’t sure if it was really a “by 12/31” instead of an “on”
Not sure. It seemed like it might be a little earlier when we spoke to FA, but I like to assume later and be pleasantly surprised when it comes earlier.
@dogdoo Sorry, that wasn’t very clear and I can’t see how to edit. Did your daughter end up applying for the College Scholar? Do you think those applications take longer than ones that don’t try for College Scholar?
Yes she did. We haven’t heard anything yet, but in reading previous years’ posts, it looks like it takes longer for those decisions to come out. But who knows.
There is a special application for the College Scholar scholarship. The deadline is tied to the type of application your student used. So, for EA, it was due in November like the Common App. On their website, they now have the deadline for RD applicants.
