The Common App Secondary School Report counts as the guidance counselor rec, right?

Or do I also have to give the teacher evaluation to the counselor?

Also, on the Academic Honors section, do I name the award for getting Honor Roll/Principal's Roll of Honor for all four marking periods? Or do I name each marking period in each grade in which I got Honor Roll/Principal's Roll of Honor status?

And the schools I'm applying to have the application deadline as Jan.15. I'm planning to be done with everything and send them in by Dec. 15. Is this a good idea? Should it be sooner?

I don't think when you send it really matters as long as you send it in before the deadline. I read that a guy submitted his app to Princeton an hour before the deadline and he got in. So yeah I don't think it matter, unless it's rolling admissions.

Our guidance counselor actually sends a letter about the student (We have a really small school.) The secondary school report is just a bunch of numbers and brief description of the community and school and how the student compares to other students in his or her class.

I think all the honor roll info should be lumped together.

What do you mean lumped together? And can I get a clear answer to all these questions?

The secondary school report is your transcript. The GC has to write a letter of recommendation. It is a separate paper. I don't know about your awards.

err...in contrast to the above posts, the common app secondary school report does count as the guidance counselor rec, if the rec. is attached. One of the provisions of the secondary school report is to have your counselor attach a rec (or just write on the part of the school report where it says "evaluation."). Your transcript is a separate part of the school report.

For awards, i put it in the Academic Honor Roll (Grades 9, 10, 11, 12) format.

falalalena is right...

give your counselor the secondary school report and she'll attach a letter

and the transcript gets sent separately...

you school counselor might offer to take care of having your transcript sent... mine did.. so just check in with her/him

It most cases the counselor will mail the transcript with SS report and his letter of recommendation.

The secondary school report is essentially the counselor's recommendation. He/She would attach a letter to the form, where she fills in everything else.

The teacher eval is for teachers only so no need to worry about that.

You definitely want to check with your school on their policy about how/when they send transcripts/ssrs. For example, my school has certain deadlines you have to meet in turning in materials such as resumes according to the deadline of the school you're applying to.

For the honor/award. I would just list the award and the years received.

Also, it shouldn't matter if you send in your application late or early as long as you do it by the deadline. Exceptions are of course rolling schools where the earlier sent in, the better :)
