<p>So I just finished writing the common app! 250-500 words essay, but I have a small problem. My essay exceeds 500 words up to 566. What should I do? Is it OK to leave it as it is or should I just cut 66 words??</p>

<p>I would cut it to 500, so that it is clear you know how to follow instructions.</p>
<p>They’re not going to count the words, but you don’t want to be obviously way over. Cut back what you can, and make sure it all shows up on the PDF of the application. In some cases, even 500 words won’t fit.</p>
