UNC Chapel Hill and several other public institutions are among the Common App's new members for 2011-2012. See https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/News.aspx

Meh. Mostly lame schools.
I was hoping Georgetown would make the switch this year…

^Likewise. I’m not a big fan of Gtown’s application. It basically asks the same questions as the Common App, except it doesn’t have space for summer activities, attachments (resume, brag sheet, ec), and an extended space for awards/honors.

USC has chosen to go with the Common App though!

I think it’s cool that St. Andrew’s is using the Common App, too. I suspect it’s the only member institution that was founded in 1413.

Thanks for posting. Happy to see more Maryland publics on the list.

Maybe this will put St. Mary’s College of Maryland on more radar screens. A lot of folks have never heard of it or assume it’s a private Catholic university rather than a public liberal arts school.

USC on the common app… bye-bye chances for Class of 2016
