the common application and interviews/materials

hypothetically, i have two questions:

if someone did ot sumit the common app until the end of december, how would interviews work? although some top tier schools have a “personal data form” supplement to get the interview process going (ie dartmouth), others dont? so should the common app just be submitted as early as possible to avoid this?

if a teacher rec or transcript or counselors report or something is sent to a school where someone’s app isnt yet on file, what happens? for example, if someone doesnt submit the common app til dec 15 but school x gets teacher reports in november, do they just start a file with the teacher reports?

hmm.

Well there are some schools that will contact you after submitting an application to have an alumni interview [Harvard, Tufts, Dartmouth, Yale] , whereas with other schools you have to make contact before a certain date [which you can do even if you haven't submitted an application yet b/c they'll open a file for you, I did this with Harvey Mudd] and then there are others which don't even have interviews [I know Cornell doesn't depending on which school you apply to] .

2.They should open a file in your name.
