Thanks beforehand for answering (all or some) of them!

1)
I keep seeing all of these threads for graduating seniors with all of these awards, how do you guys get all of these awards? Do you simply look up contests online and submit to them?

2)
How much does of an effect Middle School have on High School? I am not exactly "hot" right now, but I do not try in any class :l

3)
Any way for me to make a compelling case to NOT have any Gym classes next year, so I can take more classes?

4)
Anyone here take Latin? How is it?

5)
Anyone have tips for Lincoln Douglas Debate?

What kind of awards are you talking about exactly? Some, people just find online and apply for, yes, and some they might have heard through school, or other ways.

None, really, except to possibly determine what kind of classes you’ll be in freshman year (mostly for math, in my experience). If you take high school level classes in middle school, like Algebra, for example, then it’ll show up on your high school transcript.

Is it a required class for your school? If so, then you probably won’t be able to get out of it.

Examples? Some of them are just through the high school and we don’t know about them until we get them.

There’s not much of a direct effect, unless you end up in a lower math class or something because you didn’t take Algebra I in middle school. But you can get around that if you take two math classes in one year or take a class during the summer.

If it’s required, then it’s required. But my school let me “test out of” gym by exercising on my own time and keeping track of the hours. Almost everyone takes gym and it doesn’t hurt you academically.

1) What they said above
2) Same thing
3) Unless you have a physical disability
4) Fun, a lot of work.
5) Spend a ton of time prepping, and make sure your cross examination is sharp. And practice everywhere and whenever you can.

1) Get involved with various things early on and get good at them. The awards will come naturally.

2) It can, but doesn’t necessarily, be a strong influence on high school performance (especially extracurricular-related). Again, get good at something in middle school…

3) Find a loophole. If it’s a requirement, it’s a little more difficult to get out of… Again, find a loophole.

4) Good. Do well on the NLE and you have another award! (I don’t really like the class that much though…)

1) Some through high schools, some through applying, some through competitions

2) Not too much

3) Ugh I feel you…my school makes us take gym until senior year

4) I took it for two years. It’s quite a bit of work, but it’s a lot more “logical” than most other languages (and at least at my school, it’s mostly written-based)

It really doesn’t matter unless you take high school level classes which will then advance you farther later on in high school

Gym sucks but yes. it is usually a requirement.

I asked around, and the LD Debate kids said they get almost 0 homework a day, unless you want to go to big competitions (then you have to apply yourself somewhat)
The Latin kids said they get 10-15 minutes of homework a day, and it is written based!
(Both of the groups said their class was an easy A)
