The Core and class schedules

I'm confused on when students take each Core Curriculum course. I'm assuming that people take 4-5 classes a semester. So, first semester freshmen year, do you take Literature Humanities or Art Humanities or Contemporary Civilization, etc.?

If anyone could post a sample schedule, that'd be great! Thanks.

virtually all CC students take Lit Hum their first year and contemporary civilization their second year. students are preregistered for these courses, so they must take these classes at these times. you also have to take frontiers and university writing your first year (one each semester). as for art hum/music hum/global core, you can take those any time you want. the only exception to this is if you indicated on your application that you might major in architecture/art/art history, then you’re required to take art hum your first semester.

Let’s say your in CC and taking 5 classes/semester, as the vast majority of CC students are, and you haven’t tested out of the language requirement. Here’s a pretty typical schedule:

Freshman Year First semester
LitHum
Frontiers
Language I
Elective
Elective

Second Semester
LitHum
University Writing
Language II
Elective
Elective

Sophomore Year First Semester
CC
Language III
ArtHum
Elective
Elective

Second Semester
CC
Language IV
MusicHum
Elective
Elective

And then for the next two years, it’s all electives, many of which will be related to your major. Just make sure that at least two of those electives are science-related (to fulfill the science req) and three of them are related to non-Western civilizations (to fulfill the Global Core requirement). You also have to take 2 gym classes and the swim test at some point.

does anyone know for sure if calculus or statistics count in terms of fulfilling the core’s science requirement?
