"The Count of Monte Cristo" question

Regarding the book "The Count of Monte Cristo", what reasons would you give for why Dantes wasted time with vengeance when he was already filthy rich?

It's just so late right now and my eyes are glazed over, and .... lots of work :)

Let's see what your answer would be for this question :p :D

I would probably answer " www.antistudy.com "

antistudy is super-duper slow website. always doesn't load for me

I would use the incredibly cliche proverb, "Money can't buy happiness."

Dantes knows that while he might be rich, the last 14? years of his life can never come back, the chance with Mercedes will never return, the happy simple life as a captain can never come back and most of all, his innocence will forever be gone.

He probably has this incredible whole in his heart that money just can't fill... I mean, I would seriously want payment that the people who hurt me had to pay, not by God's supposed goodness...

God has rewarded him, but the offenders haven't been punished... Being in prison for so long has convinced him that money isn't that important as thoughts and equality, as it's not needed. Besides, brooding over his revenge thoughts probably gave him the will to escape even with the promise of money at the end from the abbe.

Revenge is sweeter than the best ambrosia man can buy.

Written by someone Greek or a wannabe Greek or invented by the incredibly creative and intellectual parts of my perfect mind... Lol. ;-D
