too much stress! i'm doing all i can to overload myself with work just so i can distract myself from thinking about this for a while, but it's not working.

lol, I'm just procrastinating as usual.

how many pages do you suppose this thread will go to?

i expect the post per day to go up exponentially as we approach the 14th...

-aznxboy- Your thoughts about the National Merit and the Ivies are not true though. Harvard accepts every year the highest number of NMSF compared to all the other schools in the country. The second school that gets the most is the University of Florida which competes heavily for this students by offering full scholarships and stipends. After all, remember that the NMSF qualification is a reflection of the PSAT ( an early SAT ) which just supports a stronger and longer standing academic history , especially if you maintain high SAT scores at the time of your application.

If you get deferred, do you have any chance of getting in on regular decision? cuz at my school over the yrs, hardly anyone got deferred from early and got in regular.
so basically if i dont get in now (since i heard getting in EA is easier anyways), im fu**ed. right? or no?

D-day minus 9
(meaning decision day of course)
And I guess you could call 5:00 PM H-Hour (or Harvard hour)

Corny, I know, but give me a break. I am a little high strung right now.

To Admiral/MovieBuff: I do think that NMSF is a large accomplishment (heck, i had to work hard for it!) and SHOULD be included on the application. It's just that some ppl, when posting on this forum, leave it off because they have other strengths and want the forum members to notice that more.

another repost

this time, 8 days and 23 hours!

Geez, emoneydoemup, read stuff on the forums before you comment...

Both me and xjayz got into Harvard RD after being deferred EA, and so did two other people I know from my school. I believe the number I heard was that about 200 people get in RD after being deferred each year, though I could be wrong.

You still can get in, and a good number of people do. However, if you ARE deferred, it's a good idea to assume the worst and work hard on your other apps.

For now, though, at least wait for the decision before you think about that.

Guys, there's a good chance we'll get our decisions before the 15...last year, they were emailed on the 14. We should get an email soon telling us when they'll be sent.

But the 14th was a friday last year...?

It's not like email/snail mail doesn't come on Saturdays. Just saying, don't have to automatically assume it's the 15th.

14th was a wednesday last year
on the applicant status page - it explicitly states that we get our decisions emailed after 5 pm on dec 15th...

Last year, SCEA decisions were mailed to applicants on the 14th. Applicants who chose to receive their decisions by emails received their decisions by email on the 14th as well.

This year, SCEA decisions will be mailed on the 15th to applicants. If you have opted for an email decision, you will receive an email from Harvard College Admissions, most probably with the Subject Line, "Early Action Decision," at some time after 5:00PM EST on Friday, December 15th.

Good luck.

Admiral, did you send extra stuff after you got deferred?

In response to Arti, all of the emails are simultaneously sent out at 5pm EST on the designated day. Applicants receive emails at different time because the server gets slow when it is trying to upload around 4,000 emails. You may receive your e-mail as late as Saturday, although it's not likely, but it is safe to say that you will not receive the email before 12/15/06, 5pm EST.

Hey lingbo-

Check the "What would you do if..." thread, I answered the question there.

Hi, sorry to pop suddenly into this thread, but I have an urgent question (I'm a RD applicant, by the way):

Will my application be negatively affected if I turn it in after the suggested Dec 15 date?

no

they just want it in early because of the high volume number of applicants

7 days
