Does anyone know if this book actually helps? I dont know if i should buy it because it is really costy compared to other books

Bump!

I’m wondering this as well. If anybody can comment with their experience with this book it’d be helpful.

The book is overrated. Some of the comments on amazon are fake. I just got this book in my mail and I have been reading it for 2 hours. It has some tips, but most are just the same things mentioned in any other commercial review books (Princeton Review, Barrons, Grammatix etc. The author simply puts practice questions to relate the tips she has given in the previous chapters. Fake practice questions that are not written by Collegeboard takes up a big chunk of the 370 pages. This book is certainly a rip off, for it costs almost $40 and it doesn’t provide anything better than any 15$ review books.

Thanks for the review, JokeJoke. That’s $40 I can spend elsewhere.

I agree that it’s probably not a good book since for critical reading, test prep books are useless. A student only needs to increase his comprehension by reading hard literature or taking practice tests. After he or she can read the passages and understand them well, the student just needs to get good at answering the questions which is solved by taking practice tests and reviewing the material afterwards. To answer the questions well, the preferable method is to play devil’s advocate and eliminate answer choices until you find the answer choice that is completely supported by the text. Her grammar book The Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar is pretty good though because it gives a nice overview of all the grammar rules on the test. In the case of the writing section, test prep books like this one are actually helpful.

the book also has lots, lots, lots of line reference mistakes in its sample questions. Also, there are many page reference mistakes. Some minor errors can be found all over the book, which is really frustrating. It is basically a poorly edited book with normal and common tips offered by other books

Anyone with the links? For PDF of Ebook??
