I know about the FAFSA but What's the CSS? and how do I know if I need to do it?
Does it relate to the FAFSA?
Does it have any advantages?

Thanks

The CSS Profile is an form that collects financial information for schools to use to compute the awarding of institutional aid. It is used by mostly private schools (not all of them by any means), and by some publics universities. You need to check the SCHOOL's finaid website to see if a school you are applying to uses the Profile in addition to the FAFSA (most everyone requires the FAFSA). If your school requires both forms, you will not be awarded a finaid package unless both are completed.

AS A REMINDER TO ALL...check to see what your school requires (FAFSA, PROFILE, Tax returns, their own finaid form). It varies by school. AND check the deadlines!!!
