The Curious Case of James

Hey, buddy~~ Maybe your are hooked into this thread ^_^
I am admitted by Michigan- Ann Arbor (as international student) this year and while wait for other admissions (if there was any~~). I really like Michigan but I still hold the belief that I may have the potential for a better college just like Upenn. I think that my SAT scores are the main hindrance of my path to better schools because my high school GPA was above 3.9 forever. But my SAT and subject scores suck ( SAT12030, SAT subjects 2300). I have read a butch of materials about Wharton School and find myself under the magical spell of Wharton. I will take 12 APs this year all by self- study (almost mission impossible but I will my best shot) because our country do not provide any American tests (except GRE and TOEFL) or course (yes, you are right, it is China). By the way, I you have an inquiring mind that wants to acknowledge more about China (please do not deal too much with human rights and Dalai Lama~~), you can always post your questions here. I have no idea what the life will unfold in front of me in America and what the activities I can participate there to enhance my chance for Wharton. Do you guys have any advice please? Thank you for your attention and God Bless you all~~~

your sat 1 scores are a little low but still perfectly fine, and your subject test scores are actually very good. you have a fine chance. good luck

Thank you~~~ Any idea about the college activities? When I first saw the movie High School Musical, I thought that high schools in the US were pretty much like what the movie has depicted. I visited the US last summer and only found the situation was dramatically different.

haha high school musical is nothing like that, and im guessing college is nothing like van wilder ha...im from california thou so the east coast is gonna be foreign for me if i make wharton

I have visited both east and west coast. To be honest, I prefer Cal~~~ the weather is always fine and people are extremely firendly and kind~~~ the same theory definitely applies to you~~ Thanks~~ any advice?

Your SATs are a bit low (barely) but they've accepted ppl with lower, so it's all subjective (like any admissions process).

And no, HSM is nothing like high school. After all, it is a disney movie.

Thanks~~ It is almost 2am~~~ Could any body provide some activities that can enhance my opportunity? I do not know much about the extracurricular activity there. Every time when the chance threads deal with Boy Scout, Math Competition and year-book, my reponsea are always like "What the heck is that?" "What?" So I am really wondering some practical activities for me to enhance my chance~~~ Thank you all!

thanks~~~~~~

Since they are in the middle of making decisions, there's nothing you can do now that's going to make any difference.

Michigan is a great, great university, and its business program, while perhaps not quite as prestigious as Wharton's, is certainly among the very best in this country, maybe second only to Wharton. You should be very, very happy about Michigan, regardless of what happens with Penn.

You obviously have some issues with English -- your written English is good, but not great. For that reason, it wouldn't be surprising if your Verbal and Writing SAT I scores were a little low, and no one is going to hold that against you. (But: You are going to want to improve your English writing skills.)

i cant stop laughing about thinking that high school musical could have any realistic elements to it. i dont care where you're from thats just downright ignorant

Woah, my high school is exactly like high school musical! Well, the chess club is at least...

Yep. I totally agree with your three points~~~ As you can see, I even make some grammar mistakes in this thread and I am sorry about that. Ross is a really great school and I will think about it.

Are you from Quaker?

Well, actually, the only thing I am worrying is that Michigan is a huge public university and some of my friends always talk about the over-extended class yet relatively high tuition for international students like me.

"i cant stop laughing about thinking that high school musical could have any realistic elements to it. i dont care where you're from thats just downright ignorant"

Then you'll be surprised, QuakerOats415, to know that many foreigners have stereotypes about American culture based on American shows. I should know... I'm not from around here.

Yeah, that is true. Most foreigners always have stereotypes about American current situation and life shaped by several movies or novels.
