Anyone here besides me check out the Dailyjolt for your kid's school? Go to www.dailyjolt.com and see if the school has a Dailyjolt link. Lots of good information for the kids, weather for the day, links to the school paper, very funny professor quotes. I found it about four years ago, DD was at Swat, and I really liked it. It was founded by students at Brown and Amherst who knows how long ago.

I deliberately do NOT read the DailyJolt, per D's request. Not that I think she posts there much but it's a much more intimate exchange of questions and answers than most places, to the point that have parental readers would not make many posters happy. It has everything from "What's this prof like?" to "What's everyone's experience with X form of birth control?". When she was first admitted, D found it useful as a source of info about her dorm and some other things. She was away at a summer camp in the mountainous boonies with no Internet access, so she relayed Q's to me and I relayed A's back. So for a few weeks, I read it pretty thoroughly. And now I don't.

(Betting myself $50 that this will send some parents skittering right on over.)

It's probably a good thing that I can't keep up with D's Facebook entries, either.

TheDad, the world's been a slightly scarey place for me today. I think I'll take your advice and retreat to my "happy place"!

AFTR, one thing to remember about the world: we'll never get out if it alive. Therefore, meet each day with elan and a bit of audacity.

Seriously, while I read DailyJolt as something of a necessity, it's one of the few places where I felt out-of-place, even as a lurking reader. Consider that normally I'm an any time, any place kind of communicator.

I know there are forums on the Dailyjolt . . . I do not go there. But it is a quick link to information, and an interesting place to get a feel for the atmosphere at the school. TheDad, sounds like you are a respectful fellow!

Huh. I guess I don't remember the non-forum part of DailyJolt.
