the "dam, my status is still at preliminary review" thread

blahhh, praying that this isnt a bad sign

Yup, GAdaughter's status is "preliminary review - last updated 1/6." This is her two-month anniversary from the last time they did anything with her app.

haha mine will be on the 8th =[

i'm currently at 11 1/2 weeks. beat THAT!

.... :(

something tells me all the prelim reviews were just thrown in a 'reject' pile long, long ago

I e-mailed the USC admissions the other day:

I was just curious as to whether or not my online application status will ever change from its current status of: "Completed Preliminary Review" anytime from now until April. It has been at this stage since 12/15 at 3:01PM. I have sent in all my materials, including my senior mid-year report via online and through my school with an official transcript.

They responded today:
Thank you for your inquiry.

Yes, your application is progressing forward.

We have received the mid-year report you submitted. Your file is currently complete and we will continuing reviewing your application for admission to USC.

yeah, i'm starting to think my application was tossed away long ago ><

I feel you cookies -- it sucks... i'm just gonna get excited about my other schools that haven't informally rejected me!

i wonder if there's any difference b/w people who are still in 'prelim review' versus those who have 'we received the grades...'

i wasn't asked for grades, but submitted anyways. how about the others?

I posted this on a different thread, but I'd like to share this with you. I've been on prelim review since 12/6. I was not asked for grades.

I called the admission officer for my state yesterday and he said that my application was being reviewed right now. Then he went on to say that I was a strong candidate and that he recommended that I was accepted. So, we'll see, but I just wanted people to know that not getting an acceptance letter this week doesn't mean that you might not get one at all, and that having "preliminary review" on your status page maybe doesn't mean anything about the status of your application.

Good luck to everyone these next few weeks.

thanks sunday, thats makes me feel a little better

Thanks for the info Sunday, and good luck to you. May I ask what state you live in?

I live in Arizona.

Thank you, Sunday. I was just curious if you were one of us from NJ that has had the same "completed preliminary review" status since mid-December. Hopefully status will change soon. Good thing my D has been too busy to even check on the status since she has been rehearsing for her spring musical every day until really late. So my husband and I are the one's going crazy in our house!! Hopefully by the time the musical is over in 2 weeks, she will have an answer!

Are those of you in preliminary review sent a review requesting midterm grades? Mine was at "initial review" complete then changed to "we received the fall grades we reqeuested" (even though I hadn't submitted them). Then, I did submit them and it changed to do "We'd like to see mid-year grades."

Now it is "We have received the fall grades we requested." For some reason this message makes me feel like I'm in the reject pile, as it mentions nothing about being under review.

I'm still in prelim review, my grades were not requested. seemed a little odd considering (most) people who weren't scholarship recipients supposedly received requests.

I'm another NJ applicant - waiting stinks, but hopefully it'll work out in the end.

The glass is half full, right? =]

I'm in PA and still in preliminary review (12/19).

I think everything will be OK. :)

i called earlier and they said they were reviewing my application. i asked why i was still in prelim review, and they just said "dont worry about it" ....

don't worry, maybe they were just annoyed about the large amount of phone calls asking the same question

..but from that kind of response I get the feeling that they're ****ed about the online status introduction and all the hooplah it's brought with it haha
